Bump Update: 23 Weeks

If I had to guess, I would say baby is going through a growth spurt.  I have been starving to the point where I’m sure I will be sick if I go longer than 2 hours without eating a bunch of food.  Especially toward the end of the day, I am so hungry!  Not only that, I am flat out exhausted.  I know we had a fun weekend at the Wisconsin Dells and probably recovering a little bit, but I get to where I can hardly keep my eyeballs open throughout the day.   Baby is about the size of a papaya now, measuring about 8 inches and slightly over a pound.  Baby will about double his or her weight over the next month.  I feel humongous!  It sure feels like baby is bigger than this already.  Most days, there is a ton of movement, and it’s so much fun to lay my hand on that spot and feel baby or even just watch baby moving around. Seriously, my boobs look weird.  Not sure what’s up with that!   We had our follow up ultrasound to get a better picture of the heart chambers last Thursday, and I asked what babies position was.  I was pretty certain that that morning baby had flipped and was no longer breech.  I was right {because I’m smart like that}.  I felt like I could feel and identify body parts based on where and what I was feeling.  Baby was being all sorts of cute again during the ultrasound.  We got a pretty cool picture of the eye.  We could actually see the eye moving during the ultrasound.  Baby kept moving his or her arms up over his / her head.  We did get a great picture of babies heart chamber this time.   We have our 24 weeks appointment next […]

Bump Update: Week 25

Baby is up to the 9 inch mark, and about a pound and a half.  I am still blown away that something so tiny still can seem so big.  When my belly is moving around, it feels like the baby is huge!  Tonight, baby seems to be changing positions again.  I am fairly certain that, for the moment at least, baby is laying sideways in there.  My stomach is stretched sideways in this oblong shape right now.  It’s a pretty big week for baby right now.  Air sacs will develop in baby’s lungs this week and help prepare for baby’s first breath!!! I was told again this week that I look huge, way bigger than what I should look like.  I kind of want to punch people in the face.  My doctor even said I looked great, average.  I don’t feel like I look abnormally large.  After all, I am 25 weeks along, not 12!  Most weeks, I feel pretty good, most days even.  It seems that at least once a week though, my hips hurt so much.  Most of the time, my back as well.  To the point where it is insanely hard to change positions.  Standing up is a real chore.  It seemed to help a lot to go to the chiropractor last week, so I think I will start going weekly and see if that helps.   We should probably hop back on the name train and see if we can come up with a boy name that we like in the event that baby is a boy.  Haha.  I can’t believe how hard it is for us to come up with a boys name we like.  The girls name was easy for us.   Another really pleasant pregnancy symptom that I’m experiencing is one I had with Charlie’s pregnancy as well.  My boobs would throb, ache so badly when I was cold.  Today was a really windy, chilly day out.  Temp said 60’s, but with the cool wind, it didn’t feel like it.  I wanted to cry from how bad my boobs were hurting […]

Bump Update: Week 27

Holy smokes!  I just realized that this is the last week in the 2nd trimester.  You know, when I found out I was pregnant, I was way off on the due date that I thought I had.  I thought that somehow I was 16 weeks pregnant and was totally shocked that I was just finding out.  Then, I had the dating ultrasound and it turned out we were only 8 weeks and a few days.  Hmm.  That sure changed things!  And made the first trimester in which I was constantly nauseous, seem to last forever!  Then suddenly I made it to the second trimester and it is just flying by! I don’t have much to say about this last week.  I just signed up for fall ball, so I will be playing ball until September or October whenever the season ends….or when it starts to be uncomfortable or hurt or, in the event there is something else that comes up that causes me to stop.  I love my doctor because she is alright with it and encourages the physical activity as long as there are no problems.   I’ve been feeling pretty great lately, although my hip has been hurting a lot lately.  It’s kind of annoying, but if that is the worst of it, I will take it.  One of my boobs has gotten a lot larger.  Only one.  I feel quite lopsided!   Baby is cruising right along now, at about 14 inches and over 2 pounds.  Baby may even be able to recognize my voice now, and I’m sure those of Maggie and Charlie!  Plus, baby has all of those taste buds developed now and may even react to certain foods.  What I know for sure is that this baby loves to move!  It feels like another Charlie in there, wiggle wiggle wiggle all day long!  It’s so sweet, and I love to watch the baby move some body part and watch it roll across my belly button.   On a side note, in the event the baby is a boy, I still have no idea what his name will be.  We should probably take some time and give it some […]

Bump Update: 20 Weeks

I cannot believe this pregnancy has reached the halfway point already!  At first it seemed like it was going so slowly, now it feels like it is racing by.   The last week was a bit rough on me.  Over the weekend I had been doing good, but then Monday my stomach was a mess and it lasted into Tuesday.  It finally went away, so that was nice.  Then on Thursday I threw up as soon as I finished eating breakfast.  I can’t complain since that was only the second time this pregnancy, but it was kind of annoying.  My stomach was queasy all day long.  But….onto the good stuff.   We had our 20 week appointment and ultrasound on Thursday as well.  Baby looks great. I love this picture from the ultrasound, baby had kicked a leg over the belly, then shoved a hand into his/her mouth.  It was so sweet.  Love love love.  Baby’s heartbeat is around 140 this time and was finally really easy to find.  During the ultrasound, every time the tech was trying to get a picture of the heart chambers, baby would twist around.  She had to keep alternating between spine and heart pictures because baby wouldn’t stop twisting back and forth.  It was pretty funny. Baby is roughly the size of a banana now.  According to the ultrasound, weighing in at about 14 ounces.  In the event I ever get to just sit down, I can feel baby moving around quite a bit, but that opportunity doesn’t come up too often.  Sitting in the car isn’t very comfortable when I’m driving.  Baby does something to make me uncomfortable.  Boy or girl, those parts are doing their job right now.  Ovaries are there or testicles are descending.  No, we didn’t find out the gender, we love the surprise of it all come baby’s birthday. I wanted to share a picture of me at 20 weeks with both of my other kids, but can’t seem to find my 20 week picture of Charlie, but here is me pregnant with Maggie and me pregnant this time […]

Bump Update: 19 Weeks

I have to admit, at 19 weeks pregnant, I feel pretty amazing.  There have actually been days here or there where I don’t feel nauseous at all.  I’m still down 4 pounds, but definitely look pregnant.  The one pregnancy symptom I notice quite regularly is dizziness.  Whenever I stand up, I get a little dizzy, so I have to be sure to hold on to something just in case.  I also get winded really easily, as in, even going downstairs, not just up.   This pregnancy has been very different all along, starting with the lack of bleeding during those first few weeks which was a welcome relief.  With Maggie, that went on throughout the pregnancy.  With Charlie, it was 2 straight weeks in the beginning.  I also feel like this baby sits higher than either of them did.   Next Friday is my appointment for my 20 week check-up as well as the ultrasound.  We will not be finding out the gender of this baby either which makes it all the more exciting for me.   The kids are both starting to talk about baby a lot.  They lift up my shirt and give the baby belly kisses.  It is really adorable.   I’ve never nested with either of the kids, but feel like I’ve been doing that all along this time.  Well, at least since I developed energy!  Or, it may just be that I have about a billion projects I’d like to get finished.  I decided while laying Charlie down for nap today that I absolutely have to paint my bedroom.  It’s been in my mind for a few years, but I think it may just get done soon {like right after we replace the patio door in there}.   Baby’s arms and legs are in the right position and proportionate to the body now.  The brain is designating specialized areas for smell, taste, hearing, vision, and touch. Baby is weighing in at a whopping 1/2 pound now!  And reaching about 6 inches.  Those little movements are way more often now, but will also go most of a day without noticing.  I love feeling those little reminders that it is a real person growing inside there, it is amazing every single time.  Plus, just this last week I actually was able to feel the baby move with my hand, although for anybody else to feel it, they kind of have to feel me up! […]

Tips for Surviving a Summer Pregnancy

*Disclosure:  I received a complimentary product for the purpose of this review.  All thoughts and opinions are 100% my own.*   I remember very clearly these 2 days when I was 8 or 9 months pregnant with Maggie.  It was over 100 degrees outside, and our air conditioning quit working.  We really needed to replace a bunch of windows in our living room, but hadn’t done it yet.  To create, or attempt to create a cross breeze, I opened the patio door and some windows.  I laid on the floor in front of the patio door feeling the sad, pathetic attempt at a breeze that was coming through the house.  It was suppose to storm that night, so I shut and locked the windows when I went to bed.  Well, one of the windows wasn’t cooperating, but I thought I had it shut all of the way.  In the middle of the night I wake up to this very loud noise and it sounded like the hail was actually in our living room.  I go downstairs to discover that the wind had ripped the window wide open.  So here I go, very pregnant into the pitch black of night to try and shut that window during a storm.  Good times!     Keeping cool in the summer can be tricky enough, but to keep cool when you are pregnant all summer can be all the more difficult, and important.  If you are like me, getting overly hot seems to cause cramping and contractions, so I try to avoid it.  Here are some of the things I have found to help me survive 2, going on 3 summers of being pregnant.   Stay in the air conditioning.  This is also impossible to do all of the time, but if it is extremely hot out, I try to stay in for the most part of the day.   When outside, try to stay in a shaded area.  We don’t have much shade at our house, so I try to stay close to the garage.   Get in the water.  I have found that even having a small pool for the kids and keeping my feet in it helped me to stay cool while we played outside.   If you have long hair, keep it up.  Just having your neck exposed helps cool your body down.   Keep a pocket fan with you.  While they don’t create much breeze, they give you a brief reprieve from the heat.   Go outside during the morning or evening hours.  The sun is lower, the temperatures cooler, and you may find more shade to hide out in.   Stay hydrated.  Drink plenty of cold beverages throughout the day to prevent dehydration.  This, along with a lowered salt intake will help decrease swelling of the feet.   Wear light colored clothing.  I love maternity clothing, and there are so many trendy, affordable options for every pregnant mama.  One of my favorite places to shop is Milan Maternity.  I absolutely love this Rosalie top that I have.  Not only is it a great shirt for any time of year, but it is a great shirt to get me from early pregnancy and beyond.  I can wear this shirt anytime, pregnant or not.  I also love that I can wear this shirt and have easy breastfeeding access.  I love that Milan Maternity offers tons of shirts that I would love to have as part of my maternity or nursing wardrobe.  Just because I’ve got a big old belly doesn’t mean I don’t want to look my best!   Have you spent the summer pregnant?  How did you stay cool?  Which shirt from Milan Maternity is your favorite?   Enter to win a top from Milan Maternity through July 15th […]

The first thing I will tell you is that this shirt arrived just in time.  Seriously, not a moment too soon.  You see, there was a delay in shipping, and when it shipped out, I was worried I wouldn’t get it in time, and rightfully so.  I stalk the mail carrier, and we were past our due date.  We had an appointment scheduled  and when I was getting ready to leave for the appointment, I had packed up my hospital bag because I was having quite a few strong contractions.  The mail showed up just as I was getting ready to leave for the appointment, so I put the shirt on right away, certain that this was the last day of this pregnancy. The first thing I noticed was how soft it was.  This is one of the silkiest feeling shirts I have ever worn, I loved it!  The only thing that I didn’t like about it was that it wasn’t quite long enough to cover my big old belly.  I was huge with this pregnancy and it stuck all out in front so finding shirts that covered my entire belly wasn’t easy.  My belly played peekaboo out the bottom of the shirt all day long. At our appointment, I had tons of comments on this shirt – everybody loved it, especially the baby under manufacturing process part. This is a great, very breathable, comfortable shirt.  I do wish it was a bit longer, but I would love to have some more of these shirts.  Ready to check out the other fun slogans and get your own? Bump Update: 21 Weeks

I like comparing my baby to the fresh produce for size, but it’s telling me large banana again.  I guess it depends on where you are looking.  Either way, this baby is definitely in there and definitely getting bigger.   I realized just now that I talked about how cute the baby is in the ultrasound picture and forgot to include the picture, so here it is.  My little love bug. Today I got a rather disturbing phone call, at least at first.  I saw the clinic number on my phone and was nervous to even answer it.  I hadn’t had any tests done, no bloodworm or anything.  I didn’t have an appointment scheduled yet, so I knew it had to be about the ultrasound which really worried me.  As I mentioned in this post, the tech was having a difficult time getting a good view of the heart chambers.  We had a different tech than the ones I have had throughout the other pregnancies and our first one for this baby, and I was bummed.  I really love Connie, she always wears a smile and tells you about what she is looking at.  This tech didn’t say much at all and stopped to write notes which made me nervous.  As it turns out, the reason for the phone call was because the doctor who looked over the ultrasound pictures wasn’t satisfied with the picture of the heart chambers.  While she didn’t see a problem or anything to cause any concern, she wanted to request a follow up ultrasound to see if they could get a better picture.  They recommend a level II ultrasound because of my age and the incomplete heart views.  Ugh, come on, I’m only 35!!!!!  Whatever though, they are allowing me options and I choose to see my friend Connie, our regular tech who is amazing and awesome and all of that stuff.  So next week I will head back in and get some more images.  Maybe she will do what she usually does and give me a short video of baby moving.  It’s always so fun to watch those. So this week, baby is up to some new tricks.  Using those taste buds.  Baby will be able to get a taste of what I’m eating now.  Better add in some more variety, I’ve been stuck in a food rut.  I want nothing, but am hungry!   Tonight this baby was doing something, and it felt like a weird pulsating up by my rib cage.  I’ve never really felt that with baby before.  It was weird. What to expect says, “I may notice some stretch marks starting to appear.”  Well, not sure I’ve noticed any new ones, but the old ones are still there looking fantastic as ever.  Back when I was 10, I had my appendix out.  The scar is horrible and sunken in.  It was itching a bunch tonight so I looked at it, and it is doing the same thing it did before.  That ugly dark blue bruise looking thing.  The scar seems to get it’s own stretch mark.  I remember thinking with Maggie that it looked and felt like the scar was just going to rip open.   Spill the beans, what is your worst pregnancy […]

Bump Update 15 weeks

If you missed it, I told you all about finding out about this pregnancy here.  I remember writing posts each week throughout Charlie’s pregnancy, and am excited to do it all again. Soon, I’ll write the post where I tell you how my blog got me pregnant!   How I’m feeling So far, I haven’t felt horrible.  There are good days and bad days, although now, more good days.  The nausea isn’t nonstop anymore, and it’s getting easier to eat dinner instead of gag at the very thought of having to eat or feed the kids.  I’ve only actually thrown up twice now, so it could definitely be worse.  I’m still pretty tired, but not completely exhausted.  I have days here and there where my hips hurt so much that attempting to move/stand up/walk is painful and I feel like my bones will break.  I remember quite clearly, this same feeling started after Charlie’s delivery.  I haven’t been nearly as active as I would like since then, so I”m guessing this is only going to get worse.  On my must get to it list – my prenatal yoga video.  I’m hoping that helps at least a little bit.   I spend a lot of days not feeling pregnant at all.  If I don’t feel sick, I just don’t feel pregnant.  I have noticed that my belly is growing a bit.  I just plain feel fat.  My stomach isn’t all hard as it grows like it was with the first two {I’ll assume that is the fat that has somehow accumulated since having children, haha}.  But, today, I started to feel a little better about that.  I apparently don’t just look fat, I do look pregnant.  We were garage sale-ing today and a few different people commented, and then a family member at a funeral that didn’t know that I was pregnant prior to seeing me.  I’m not sure if it all just means I’m huge or just that it is obvious.   Best of all – last night I felt baby moving.  I had felt both of my kiddos by this point, so I’ve been waiting for it.  And it wasn’t just one movement I felt.  It felt like a dance party going on.  I had the opportunity to just sit still for a little bit, so I”m wondering if I was just finally able to notice it because I wasn’t doing a hundred other things.   What baby is doing Baby is about the size of an apple or orange.  This little one is now about 4 inches long from crown to rump, and tipping the weight scale at about 2 1/2 ounces.  Baby can move amniotic fluid through his or her nose and upper respiratory tract, helping the air sacs in the lungs to develop.  My baby’s legs are longer than the arms now, and baby can move all of his or her joints and limbs.  Even though the eyelids are still shut, baby can sense light.  Also joining the team are taste buds!   What’s next? We have our 16 week checkup on Friday.  I’m super bummed because my doctor is on vacation that week {the nerve of her to do such a thing and not check with me first!}.  I wanted to schedule around that, but I couldn’t find a date/time that worked for me.  We opt out of any optional testing, so unless there is a problem, nothing but heartbeat checks until our ultrasound next month.   I’m also pretty sure I want to have my photographer who is amazing photograph the birth.  It will take some doing to get John on board with this, but I think it would be awesome.  With Maggie there were quite a few pictures, but with Charlie, nobody really took any.   Are you pregnant right now?  When are you due?  Did you have a birth photographer present during delivery?  Would you do it […]

Bump Update: Week 26

[…]creepy.   So if you have an idea what my TMI symptom is all about, let me know!   ***Update:  I did go to the doctor today.  I have varicose veins in my lady parts.  The doctor found me entertaining.  Let’s face it…you need a sense of humor when the doctor is checking out your lady parts and your 3 year old is sitting there going….”Is she putting something in your vagina?” […]

Bump Update: Week 38

I’m not sure I have much to update about this week, although I’m writing the post earlier in the week than usual, so I suppose that could change.  Last Thursday Maggie came down with a stomach bug and spent a few hours sick.  Then that night, Charlie got sick.  He got really sick, poor guy.  Saturday he was really sick too, and then, lucky me, I got the bug on Sunday.  I really only felt awful for a few hours in the morning and evening, otherwise, I was alright which I’m very thankful for.  At least it didn’t involve hours of throwing up because I already went through that back in June.  It sucked.  I *think* that we are all better now, hopefully there are no relapses from Charlie man. Because Maggie got sick, I ended up not being able to go to softball last Thursday and was super bummed about it, but my babies first.  Looking forward to playing on Thursday, it is our last game of the season.  This baby is moving around a bit less than he or she had been, so we must be getting close.  I go in for my 38 week appointment later this week so we will see how things are doing.  John had predicted September 30th for the due date and was wrong.   We had our maternity pictures taken last week and will be getting them back soon.  I’m super excited to see them all.  But here are a few of the shots for a sneak peak. We STILL don’t have a boys name picked out, so we should probably figure that out.  Both Maggie and Charlie were born 4 days past their due date.   After my appointment today, my doctor thinks I will still be pregnant at this time next week. Baby is at a +2, I’m 30% effaced, and dilated to a little more than a 1, but not a 2.   When do you predict our baby will arrive?  Boy or […]

Bump Update: 36 Weeks

So, I missed posting an update last week again.  It was kind of a crazy week around here. That’s for sure.  Getting ready for Maggie’s 4th birthday party was a very big deal.  We planned it a month ahead of time so that there was no way that baby’s arrival would interfere with her birthday party {baby is due 3 days after Maggie’s birthday}.  I ended up spending most of Friday in the hospital because Charlie jumped on my stomach pretty hard right away in the morning.  Since baby isn’t really active at all in the morning, I had no clue if anything was wrong.  I felt like it was all good, but wasn’t quite positive, and called the nurse line, knowing full well that they would want to monitor the baby for at least a little while. Everything was just fine, baby was doing great, but it was a long day spent in the hospital. Then, because I lost a full day of getting reader for the party, I had a ton of stuff to do.  Seriously, hadn’t even gone to the grocery store yet.  So, I spent all morning Saturday getting ready for the party.  Part of me wanted to cry, but most of me realized that I could only do what I could do and it would turn out fine either way.  The party turned out amazing, so all was well.   Other than the hospital snafu, I’m still feeling pretty good.  I’ve still been playing softball, even though I don’t feel like I’m doing much for my team, especially when I’m suddenly hitting horribly.   On another note, Charlie has this tiny baby doll that he is very attached to right now.  He has been taking good care of it and I think that he is going to do great with the new baby.  I had been concerned that he would be rough and tumble, and while I’m sure he still will be, he knows we are gentle with babies and has been so sweet to watch with his baby dolls.   We have the new carseat I had wanted.  Our old one was tough to adjust the harness straps on each time the baby was buckled in.  We have some new newborn cloth diapers that have come in the mail in the last week or two.  I have everything I need…..except a name in the event it is a boy.   So spam me with baby boy names.  If it is a girl, we are set.  If it’s a boy, pretty sure the baby will never have a name!  I like old fashioned names, and would like a name that ends like Maggie or Charlie, but that may not […]

Bump Update: Week 28 and 29

I totally dropped the ball last week….and this week, but I’m getting this update posted even though tomorrow begins week 30.  Ahh, can you believe that?!  So exciting.   Anyways, I have had a really awful week, with a lot of frustration.  This week, I went to my 28 week checkup which had been rescheduled from the week before because the clinic managed to mess up my appointment time for two straight weeks.  This was the one hour glucose test, so I was very upset when I showed up with the kids and was informed I didn’t have an appointment.  Luckily, they did get me in.  Unfortunately, it was with a doctor I did not care for.  I remember the one appointment I had with her during Maggie’s pregnancy.  She isn’t my favorite.  {In my spoiled brat voice} I WANT MY DOCTOR!!!   The good news is, I passed the glucose test.  For some reason I was worried, although I had no reason to be.  I passed with both of my other pregnancies as well.  In other news though, my hemoglobin levels are 2 points low.  I have always had low iron levels, had to quit trying to give blood because it was never high enough.  I already take an iron pill and a prenatal vitamin, so I was surprised.  But, in a small way, relieved.  I wasn’t sure what was going on with my body and the complete and total exhaustion that has been overtaking me every single day.  Reading the anemia info booklet they gave me, I’m holding out hope that by upping the iron pills to twice a day, I will have an easier time sleeping and not be so blasted tired.   I get a few spurts during the day where I’m not totally worn down, but they don’t usually last too long.   Anywho, onto the fun stuff, here are some pictures from the other […]

Our Adventures in EC part 3

Today has been an off day with Charlie going potty, which makes me laugh.  I wanted to write an update post on how it was going with elimination communication.  Aside from the fact that we have had a lot of misses today, we have been really successful lately.  I try to write mostly informative posts, but I am super busy and it will probably have to wait until after the New Year, or at least until after Christmas.   Over the weekend,  I feel like something really clicked.  We have been doing really good for awhile now, and by we, I mostly mean Charlie, but let’s face it, the parent plays a big part in EC.  On Saturday, I set him on the potty throughout the day, and realized that quite often, I had held him on the potty and waited and waited and waited until he went.  Sometimes it would be quick, sometimes not at all.  Well, all of a sudden, whenever I held him on the potty, he was going right away.  Even if he didn’t have to go, you could see he was trying to pee.  Sunday was the same thing, hold him over the potty, and he went right away.  I was sure that he finally realized that when I held him on the potty, that it was time.  Then today hit.  We failed miserably at going on the potty.  Don’t get me wrong, he still went 3 or 4 times, but most days, he goes a lot more.  Oh well.  He is a baby!  Is it odd that I am excited for him every single time?!  Today, even Maggie decided to hop on the potty train!  Yay!!!   Okay, I promise though, the next EC post will be an informative one!   Have you or anybody you know tried EC?  How old was the baby?  Did you find it much easier than potty training a toddler? Want to read the other EC posts?  Part 1, Part […]

My pregnancy week 21

[…]will be getting a taste of – and a taste for – whatever’s on your menu.  Here’s another update:  Arms and legs are finally in proportion, neurons are now connected between the brain and muscles, and cartilage throughout the body is turning to bone.  Which means that when your baby makes his or her moves (which you’re probably feeling by now), they’re much more coordinated – no more jerky twitches. My symptoms – My morning sickness that lasted all day has gotten much better.  I haven’t thrown up since I threw up on my daughter a few weeks ago.  I’m still nauseous but not as often.  Part of the day I feel like I have more energy, but then I’m exhausted.  My workout has been shortened to 30 instead of 60 minutes of cardio, but lately that seems to be too much, I’m exhausted about an hour after I’m done.  I have a lot of ligament pain which makes it uncomfortable to walk sometimes.  I’m already getting some stretch marks, but I doubt I will really notice over the old ones 🙂   My weight gain – I have finally gained weight, much to my doctors delight.  I had lost 7 pounds (I lost 15 with my first), but am now up 3 pounds.  It’s much easier to gain when you aren’t throwing up all day. Cravings – I just crave junk food!    Other stuff – At our appointment, I measured two weeks ahead according to the doctor, but the baby is measuring 1 week ahead based on the […]

Random thoughts and my week in review

I’m really trying to think of a catchy title for these posts.  Week in review is pretty lame I think, but right now, I’ve got nothing. I don’t really have anything to add this week.  We have done a lot of running around, and went to the kids’ classes on Tuesday and saw all of our friends, but other than that, we haven’t done much at all. It’s been pretty boring around here.  My darling kiddos were both sick last week, and the early part of this week was spent resting up.  Unfortunately, they love to kiss me a whole bunch, or in Charlie’s case, eat me.  Today, I went to the doctor, and I too have strep throat.  Ugh. On another note, pretty much all of our snow has melted.  We have rain projected for pretty much the entire week. We are working on some home improvement projects right now.  John is putting up some more shelves in the garage, we bought a bunch more totes, and hopefully we can actually get more organized because there is an easier place to store things rather than sticking them all down in the crawl space.  We ordered the kids’ bunny and lamb pictures, and got our discs with the pictures from our whole family shoot.  I am so excited to share them with you, but the disc drive on my laptop won’t work suddenly, so that is going to have to wait.   Posts you should readWordless Wednesday Easter fun1 is not a magic numberWhen clean isn’t clean enough ReviewsZupers activewear shortsNursing bands This weeks giveawaysBookLingual 6 ebooks 4/11 WW 3 Nursing Bands 4/15 US/Canada Zupers Activewear Shorts 4/16 US Birth Relaxation Kit 4/29 WW Lalabee Baby Essentials Prize Pack 4/20 US/Canada $1500 in SKOY cleaning cloths 5/1 US/Canada What has your week been like?  Anything new and exciting in your […]

Tommee Tippee Review – Chewther

[…]I am excited to let the baby try this out when he or she is 4 months old.  Be ready for an update on this review in November. The chewther is definitely durable and washes up easily. My overall opinion:  This is a great teether toy that is easy to hold for babies.  I am really glad we got to try it out and will be trying it out again about 6 months from now.  Maggie however was being very stubborn and I wasn’t able to get a picture of her using the Chewther.  Every time I got the camera out to take her picture with it, she decided I had to put it in my mouth […]

Our Father’s Day Fun

A must have fashion accessory

*Sponsored Post* Want to celebrate something with me?  I have been nursing for 29 months and I’m not finished yet.  I’m not a big fan of wearing tank tops under my regular clothes because I get so hot.  I have invested in some nursing shirts, and have a decent amount of them, but after this many months of wearing the same things over and over, I’m starting to think about my tank tops again.  Grrr.  Just in time for summer I decide to change it up.  Then, Momzelle asked if I wanted to review their nursing bands.  Yes please. Nursing bands are a blend of cotton and spandex in sort of a triangular shape.  Each nursing band is a band of fabric that you slip over your midsection providing coverage during pregnancy when your shirts get too short, or when breastfeeding to keep your stomach covered.  But there’s more – even if you aren’t pregnant or breastfeeding, nursing bands are great.  Wear them to create a layered look every day. Because of the design of these, where the top is more narrow than the bottom, they stay in place while you go about your day.  I know that I could use these all the time.  I hate when you lean forward and your jeans can have that gap {please tell me this happens to everybody, not just me}.  With nursing bands, crack doesn’t have to kill! I have gotten a lot of use out of my nursing band.  Plus, because they are cheaper than many nursing shirts, I can afford to get more of them.  Nursing bands are available in 7 different colors and 4 different sizes.  Buy one or buy them all!  I love Momzelle.  I think they are affordable, especially compared to many other nursing shirts.  You may remember when I shared my review of the 3/4 Fancy Top that I absolutely love.  Momzelle is more than just an apparel shop.  Partnering up with organizations to help support breastfeeding moms everywhere, you can tell they care!  Based in Canada, you can get shipping worldwide so you can get quality breastfeeding apparel no matter where you live. Get social with Momzelle on Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest or visit the website and start shopping now. Win 3 nursing bands now during the Showered with Love Event.  Ends April 15, […]

Some Catching Up

[…]extra money to do it all now.  So I got started on my bathroom makeover.  I’ll be sharing the updates and probably some tutorials for it all when I’m finished with it but for now, here’s the before photo of the bathroom {with the missing toilet that we had to take out}.  Seriously – WORST before picture ever!  But I had already started tearing down the wall paper I think, some trim was off and the toilet was out when I realized I needed a before picture.  See the fan sitting in the tub – further proof of the joy when doing all of this when our a/c was broke.   I am putting in a tile floor, painting, a pallet / plank wall, building a new vanity and I’m not sure what else at the moment, but I can’t wait!  So far I have the floor done, the wall and paint done and am working on the vanity.  We have the toilet back in, but that’s where I’m at for now.  I’ll update you with pictures when I have time.  I just finished Maggie’s birthday party and have to get Henry’s ready for this weekend.  Mix in a monster cold and we’re all set.   Check back  –  I’ll posting posting links to the posts about the bathroom remodel as well as the birthday parties.   So that’s how my crazy summer has been.  How has your summer been?  Any adventures or […]

Bump Update: 24 Weeks

Today I had my 24 week appointment.  Everything seems to be going well, woohoo!  The only thing I found out was that my blood pressure is pretty low.  Nothing concerning, but definitely weird for me.  It’s always been very consistent, even throughout my pregnancies. It also explains why I get dizzy so often. Baby is now about 1 1/2 pounds and will continue gaining at about 6 ounces a week.  Baby is about 8 1/2 inches long, still so teeny!  I was a little nervous Monday night and Tuesday.  Baby had been so active, and then suddenly I hardly felt anything.  I assumed that baby had probably just moved positions since I was still feeling things, just not like I had been.  Today, baby went right back to busy little bee mode, and I could feel this little one a whole bunch today.  It’s so comforting to feel the baby move all of the time.   Maggie has become very concerned with what the baby is doing.  At random times throughout the day, she will ask me what the baby is doing.  Is “he” and she almost always says he – sleeping?  Moving?  It’s […]

Bump Update: Week 30 & 31

Ahh, can you believe there are only 9 weeks of this pregnancy left?  I’m getting really excited.  When there were 3 months left, it felt like tons of time.  Now with only 2, I’m really trying to get a few projects finished before the baby makes an appearance. I keep trying to get a video of this baby moving, but haven’t gotten a good one yet.  When I sit on the couch with the recliner part out, the baby gets extremely active and we all sit and watch the show.  It’s so funny and just plain fun to watch.  The kids love it.  I think they are getting excited too because they talk about the baby a lot more lately.   I had my glucose test a few weeks ago and that went just fine.  However, they did discover that my iron is almost 2 points low.  I was a little surprised by that.  I take an iron supplement as well as a prenatal every day because I have always had low iron levels.  Now, I have to take iron in the morning, iron in the afternoon and my prenatal at night {or really any order is fine}.  It’s so hard to remember when I’ve been doing the same thing for so long.  I’m hoping that remembering helps me to have some energy because it was rough being so exhausted all of the time.  Only time will tell.  I’m also still down 7 pounds from my initial appointment.  This is fairly normal for my pregnancies and I will probably start gaining weight soon.  It usually happens around the 8th month for me.  The heartburn has been getting even worse, so I’m guessing that it’s not going away until the baby is born.   I’ve been able to get a decent amount of projects finished up lately which has been great.  It is hit or miss if I can do much from day to day.  Some days I’m extremely busy and others, I feel great.   I’ve been sitting outside {on my sisters patio set that is at our house} and reading my book while the kids play outside.  It feels really good to just sit down and relax while they ride around in their power wheels.  Plus, I know I won’t have much time for that after the baby arrives.   I’m still playing softball, very carefully, but still playing.  It’s such a refreshing, fun time every week and my doc is on board with it.  I had debated playing fall ball, but since I’m feeling good still, I’m going to keep playing.  I trust my body to let me know if it is time to stop.   On a side note, we still don’t have a name picked out if this baby is a boy.  We should probably make a decision on that soon.   Oh yeah, and if I hear one more person tell me I look ready to pop, I may punch them.  That is […]

Bump Update: Week 32

I don’t have much to say about this last week.  Not much has changed, although last night, baby was moving around a ton.  I had been pretty sure baby was laying sideways in my belly for awhile now, but now, I have no clue!  It feels like there are hundreds of little limbs moving around in there.  I couldn’t help myself and I took a video the other day of the baby moving around.  It is the very best part of pregnancy! The kids are starting to get irritated by the lack of lap I have left these days.  They both want to sit on my lap, and all they do is elbow the baby the whole time.  I’m starting a project for Maggie that I want done by her birthday party in a few weeks, so wish me luck! Friday is my 32 week appointment and I will get to see my doctor this time.  Not a big deal, but I really feel better seeing my doctor!   I’ve reached that point where I’m starving a lot.  I will eat right before I go to bed in the hopes of making it until morning, but I wake up so hungry at night.  I’ve been toughing it out so far and haven’t had to get up to eat yet, but man, I am starving when I wake up in the morning.  I’m still down from my starting weight, so I’m going to go out on a limb and say pretty soon I will be gaining weight.   How much did you gain with your pregnancies?  I didn’t gain a thing until the 7th or 8th month with any of my pregnancies. […]

Bump Update: Week 34

Today was our 34 week appointment.  All is right with baby.  My iron was rechecked at my last appointment and it has gone up a whole point, so now it’s just a little low instead of crazy low.  Last night was amazing – the kids slept and I slept.  I am usually up a million times a night, but only woke up once in the 6 hours I was in bed last night.  That never happens! {I set the timer to take a picture but it went off early.  This is what I got} My belly is sticking pretty far out and I cannot believe I only have 5 1/2 weeks before the baby is due!  Can you believe it?  I have a lot of Braxton Hicks contractions.  That’s been going on for a few months at least.  I’m not sure if I mentioned it, but I didn’t realize I was having them during Charlie’s pregnancy until some point in this pregnancy when I realized that’s what I was feeling.  You would assume that by my 3rd pregnancy, I would just know, but that isn’t what happened.  It took 3 pregnancies to figure it out, haha.  Anyways, my stomach basically does a lot of contorting throughout the day as baby makes it change shape regularly.  Baby is still head down which makes me happy! {This is the crappy picture I ended up with and didn’t realize until I was too lazy to retake it} My heartburn is still awful, hideous, and really sucks.  Probably having something to do with that, I have only gained 3 pounds this pregnancy.   There really isn’t much of anything that I absolutely need for this baby.  But, there was one thing I have been wanting to get – a new infant seat.  My sister bought me mine for my baby shower and there isn’t anything wrong with it.  The only thing I didn’t like was that it was very hard to tighten.  It was almost like I had to rethread the straps partway to tighten or loosen the straps.  I didn’t mind with Maggie, probably because I didn’t know the difference, but with Charlie, it became frustrating but I still didn’t know any better.  Then I saw a friends carseat with a one pull tighten strap and I realized how much more work I was doing!  Anyways, I will be reviewing the Combi Shuttle and it arrived on Wednesday.  I am in love!  {But still be sure to read my full review to find out why}.  To top it off, I got my first newborn cloth diaper for review as well this week – SmartBottoms Born Smart.  Now I am so excited!!!  I had been thinking these last 6 weeks would fly by…now I’m thinking they may drag just a bit! […]

Bump Update: Week 37

So after I wrote last weeks post, we had our 36 week check up. Turns out I’m dilated to a 1, 20 % effaced and baby is at a -3. While I know none of that means anything just yet, it made me wonder a bit. I’ve never actually known I was at a 1 with either Maggie or Charlie. I would go in and be at a 0. Then go in and be at a 2 and have the baby within a day or two. I’ve never actually known that I was at a 1. That tidbit of information had a few people on my softball team wondering if I should really be playing, but my doctors input was – this isn’t your first rodeo. If it hurts, stop.  I can definitely feel that we are getting a little closer, I feel the baby putting pressure on my hips quite often.  Here are some fun belly shots of the baby making my belly look all pointy and cute. So I spent some time going through names again in case this baby was a boy. I came up with a few I like, but nothing I am crazy in love with. The name John likes the most, I’m completely against using. The name I like the most, he is completely against. So back to the drawing board we go. I also realized that while I had written this post on what to pack in your hospital bag, I hadn’t actually gotten my bag packed, so I should really get on that fairly soon.  I should also probably throw some things in a bag for Maggie and Charlie, just in case they end up staying the night some place else.   So that’s what I am up to right now.  I’m pretty excited for a few products that are on the way for the baby for review and I think you will LOVE them.  But keep your eyes peeled this next week for my review of the Combi Shuttle […]

Bump Update: 39 and 40 Weeks

I figured I would combine the two weeks this time since my due date is Sunday. Can you believe you have {hopefully} been reading along throughout my entire pregnancy? Both Maggie and Charlie were born 4 days past my due date, so let’s see what this little one decides to do. I’m still feeling pretty great, just tired. Really tired. It doesn’t help that since we finally got rid of the stomach bug, something else was up with Charlie and he started in on a fever Sunday night. I’m just really hoping he gets better fast and we can get the yuck germs out and disinfect before the little one arrives!  Unfortunately, that yuck bug just happens to be hand, foot and mouth disease.  As I sit here writing this, Maggie has a slight fever and I’m concerned that she now has it too.  This is awful!  Seriously awful.  I’m mentally and physically drained taking care of little sickies, and I just want my babies to feel better and hopefully feel better before baby is here.  Think good thoughts for baby to stay put for a bit longer!!! We STILL don’t have a boys name picked out, only a girls name. So, feel free to bombard me with your favorite boy names, just don’t be offended if I don’t love your name. A few things we really want in a name, we kind of like old fashioned names, and would love something that ends with the same sound as Maggie and Charlie. Not a deal breaker if it doesn’t, but that is one of our preferences. I’m hoping to get the baby clothes pulled out so I can pick out a few outfits to take to the hospital. I still need to get our bassinet out of the attic and into the bedroom as well. I do, however, finally have my hospital bag actually packed. Find out what I’m bringing with here. So, this may be your last chance to guess – boy or girl? Want to pick a weight as well? Need more info? Maggie was born at 7 pounds 10 ounces. Charlie was born at 8 pounds 7 […]

Reading Eggs Review

[…]well and figured it out on their own.  They can purchase things with their reward golden eggs and update their apartment, etc..  They can check out their trophy room, arcade, mall, stadium, library, targets, english skills, etc..  When they click on my lessons, it automatically takes them to the next lesson.  They click on that number and off they go to their next lesson.  For example – with my nine-year-old, she is on Reading Eggspress and learning about Main Ideas.   Clicking on the golden egg or on my progress takes you to their stats.  Lessons completed, books read, spelling, stadium, exile current reading level and growth and so much more.  You can find Mental Minute in Mathseeds where they have a minute to answer as many math questions as they can.  The driving tests also allow them to practice their math skills while having fun.   Without question – my kids give Reading Eggs two thumbs up with a big grin.  You don’t have to take our word for it though – see what others have to say about it! Kindergarten Homeschool Curriculum Revisited

Awhile ago, I shared what we are using for kindergarten homeschool curriculum.   If we say we started in September, that puts us 7 months into our first year of homeschool.  There are so many days I feel like I’m not doing very much actual teaching, but the reality is, the kids are learning so much!  It just looks different than what I envisioned.  You see, I use very little of what I actually purchased for kindergarten curriculum. For the most part, I still like what we decided on and it worked fine for us, but we just changed.  The one thing we purchased that just wasn’t working out for us was All About Reading.  Maggie hated it.  Pure hate and a fight if I even suggested we work on it.  Since I became an Usborne Books & More consultant last February, I eventually ordered the Usborne Very First Reading Set {which I later replaced with the Usborne Very First Reading Library}.  I figured it couldn’t hurt.  We got down to it after taking some time off because she seriously got upset just talking about her learning to read.  Then I busted out Pirate Pat.  We spent the first day just looking at it and talking about the letter sounds and how we would read them together.  It took us 3 or 4 days to get through the first book but she was SO excited because she just finished reading a book.  This was such a great decision for our family.  She is up to book 11 or 12 but we don’t use this as our reading time as often.  You see, she realized about a month ago that she could read anything.  I mean that.  She can read any word now.  She isn’t fluid, but she’s able to read anything so that’s just what she does.  She picks up a book, magazine, cereal box, etc. and reads it.  The library takes us up into second grade, so we will keep reading it but the reality is that now she just needs to keep practicing and she LOVES to read.   We stopped using Moving Beyond the Page.  I loved it, I still think it’s great.  We did do some of the units and had fun with them.   But then the kids got really interested in something so we ran with it and left our curriculum behind.  Now, I use books to design our curriculum based on what we feel like learning about.   We do still follow Singapore Math pretty consistently.  She’s now onto the second half of first grade math.  When we finished the first half of first grade math, we took some time off to really keep reinforcing what she had learned.  She could do it all but it took quite a bit of time and I wanted it to be more automatic for her.  She liked not having to do her workbook again and I was planning to wait at least a few more weeks and just keep playing math games like Math Room with her but she wanted to start working on her book again so we are about six lessons in right now.   I did order Mystery of History to kind of sort of use for history.  I say that because I love how it weaves the bible into history instead of always seeming like they are two separate things.  We read the 1-2 pages once a week but really love the timelines as a fun, visual way to learn about history.  Most of our history comes from books at bedtime.   I also added in Devotions Off the Map.  I love the quick story as they go on a journey and then we discuss the bible verses and the open ended questions that we can discuss together as a family.   In all honesty though, a very large part of our school day takes place in the car or at bedtime.  We read a story at bedtime and there are a million questions to go along with it.  It really leads into discussion the next day as well and we pull out some more books to go along with whatever “it” happens to be.  Lately, we’ve been reading  Who was Rosa Parks? and other titles as well as the If You Traveled West in a Covered Wagon […]

Do it Yourself Photo Canvas + FREE Coloring Sheets

[…]on the do it yourself photo canvases and redo the wall because it was in desperate need of an update, preferably before we had company over for a Christmas get together.  I happened to be on the phone with my best friend in Ohio as I was setting up the new printer.  Installing it only took a few minutes, it really was so simple.  The real test though was whether my phone would connect to it.  At first it wasn’t and then I realized that I had to press a button on the screen of the printer that would tell me the password for the printer.  Once I did that, it only took a minute and I was all set to print. Printing is unbelievably easy.  On your smartphone, find the picture you want.  Click that share button and choose the HP Print Service Plugin {which was already on my phone so I’m guessing it is a default app on my phone}.  You have the option to then choose the number of copies and the size of the paper as well as whether you want color or black and white.  Once you choose your options, press print.  Tada!  That is all there is to it.  It’s so simple.  I had THE HARDEST time trying to decide which pictures I wanted to use for my do it yourself photo canvas project but I finally made my decisions and sent the pictures to print. Tip:  Make sure your photo paper is facing down or you will get a very creepy and not usable picture.  Oops. Here is the tutorial for making do it yourself photo canvases and saving yourself tons of money.   Materials needed: Mod Podge Foam brush Canvas Photos printed from your  HP Envy 4512 All-in-One Printer/Copier/Scanner Extra blank canvas Utility knife Directions: Gather your photos that you will be using that you have just printed.  I was really worried about how the quality would turn out but I should have known the pictures would look just as good as if I had them developed for me. Begin your do it yourself canvases by painting a layer of Mod Podge on your canvas.  Press firmly and carefully and place your photo on top of the painted canvas. Repeat for all canvases you will be using.  Allow to dry, roughly about 20 minutes. Flip canvas over and use your utility knife to cut any extra photo from around the canvas.  Tip:  Make sure your blade is sharp or you will get tears and the edges won’t look sharp.   Once dry, apply a thin layer of Mod Podge ON TOP of your photo that you have attached to the canvas in the previous steps.  You want to use long, straight strokes so your do it yourself project doesn’t look like a do it yourself project.  Continue until you have covered the entire photo. Press the extra blank canvas securely on top of the canvas with the picture.  If your project is larger than the extra canvas, move the extra canvas around until you have  pressed on every part of the canvas.  Now you will notice the canvas look to it.  If it looks smudged, use your foam brush to get rid of some of the excess Mod Podge. Allow to your do it yourself canvases to dry completely.   Optional:  You can paint the sides of the canvas a different color, like blank,  if you choose.   I am thrilled with how my do it yourself canvases came out.  I think they look fantastic.  Now, onto the finishing touches.  I hung them up on the wall and got started on my wall decal.  I hate making decisions so choosing the slogan for the wall was really tough.   Once I had it designed, I printed and cut it out and got it hung up as well.  Am I the only one who thinks the hardest part of all of this is getting the pictures to hang straight? I love my new, updated do it yourself canvas art and am so glad I was able to print out my pictures using the  HP Envy 4512 All-in-One Printer/Copier/Scanner
.  If you are ready to stop losing pictures on your smartphone, pick up one for yourself and start printing today.  No more delaying your projects or photos for family members.  We found ours in the electronics area at Walmart in the printer aisle.   If you are like me, you are trying to finish projects with small children running around and wanting your attention.  Keep them busy with some FREE printable coloring sheets {that you could print from your phone if you had this printer}.  Choose a gingerbread man coloring sheet or Santa’s sleigh coloring sheet.   What would your first do it yourself project be now that you can print out pictures at […]

Meet the Funky Fluff Bamboo Fusion Cloth Diaper 2.0 & a 10 PACK GIVEAWAY!

[…]diapers between our 3.5 children (Gretchen’s daughter and son and Bianca’s daughter and sweet bump due in March). So, when we say we like a certain feature or really trust something about a diaper, we’re not joking. We’ve got A LOT of comparison power. That’s probably why we’re so excited to share Funky Fluff’s 2.0 with you! First up, Bianca’s thoughts … I’ve got a pretty trim little miss – at 21 months old, she just tipped the scale at 23 lbs and is about 31 1/2 inches tall. She’s a perfectly proportioned little doll, and her smallish stature has been both a blessing and a difficulty. I love how long clothes last for this girl – she’s still wearing 12 month zippies! But fitting diapers around her waist in proportion to her height has become a difficulty with her night time diaper, as she still wets a lot at night and you’ve got to find that right balance of fluff and stuff to make sure you can make it through the night. I’ve been loving the Funky Fluff Bamboo line (both the 1.0 and 2.0s) because the bamboo liner and inserts are extremely thirsty. Parched. When she started to leak out through her ‘tried and true’ night time diapers that had been working for us for over 12 months, I tried the Bamboo Fusion 1.0’s and was immediately relieved! After stripping and repairing velcro (the next step was re-doing elastic that I really don’t think needs it), I was almost ready to try ‘sposies. Admittedly I was a little apprehensive when the 2.0 version dropped the double gusset feature (because she’s also a side sleeper) but I quickly learned that it wasn’t the double gusset that was saving my biscuits in the middle of the night – it was that awesome bamboo material! Zero leaks and no changes through out the night = a well rested Penny and this preggy mama. Our night time diaper solution is a Funky Fluff Bamboo Fusion 2.0 stuffed with one heavy duty bamboo soaker or a light bamboo soaker with booster. And while I have your ear can I tell you how much I love the soakers? They are SO dense yet thin – they are by far my favorite stuffer for diapers because they hold so much liquid. And now, a bit from Gretchen … Before Max was born, I thought I knew almost everything about cloth diapers. I mean, I’d cloth diapered Jemma for 34 months and gone through many successes and failures as we narrowed down what worked best for us. Then I had a son and I began the learning curve all over again! Max is almost 17 months and is about to tip the scales at 32 pounds. Pretty much the opposite of Bianca’s petite Penny. If I’ve learned anything about diapering both a son and daughter, I’ve learned that they pee different (obviously) and this therefore, requires different features to adequately do their job. Funky Fluff covers the gamut thanks to their bamboo lining and inserts in their 3-in-1 system. It’s definitely hard to find cloth diapers that do their job for chubbier babies. I need a high rise to prevent top leaks and large enough leg elastic that hold without leaving marks. Right now Max wears his Funky Fluff on the widest waist setting. But I’m not worried about outgrowing our Fluff since he’s really starting to run and will most likely gain more height and less weight in the coming year. I won’t speak too much to the thirst of the bamboo – Bianca sang that praise – but I will say that we too ALWAYS opt for an extra stuffed Funky Fluff 2.0 for naps and long car rides. I will add that there is nothing softer than a bamboo diaper. So, between the amazing absorbancy and the gentle fabric, I pretty much want our whole stash of diapers to be filled with Funky Fluff’s bamboo 2.0 diapers. My only hope and recommendation for Funky Fluff is that they’ll launch a trainer/pull-up cloth diaper design by the time we’re ready for that transition. I would LOVE to see a pull-up design with bamboo inside and PUL outside … maybe even a bamboo padded underwear. Wouldn’t that be awesome? Ready to add some Funky Fluff to your cloth diaper stash? We couldn’t encourage you more – you won’t be disappointed! You can purchase the Fusion Bamboo 3-in-1 System 2.0 here, or consider saving with the purchase of a bundle. Still on the fence? Maybe consider a Starter Kit so you can compare the bamboo and stay dry options while testing out the reinforcing soakers and boosters. If you want to hear my thoughts on the Funky Fluff Bamboo Fusion diaper – check out my review And now, what you’ve all been holding your breath for … the amazing giveaway to celebrate the launch of the 2.0 version of the Funky Fluff Fusion Bamboo 3-in-1 System! Beyond the Books: 20+ of the Best Apps for Kindergarteners

[…]had a chance to use this yet {seriously, we are checking out so many apps right now} but we will update when we spend some time with it.   *** indicates our current favorites. This week has been tough since we are all down and out with a pretty nasty cold, even typing this hurts my face right now.  That being said, we have added tons of apps lately and it had me thinking about the amount of data we use.  Between my blogging and real estate business, John’s obsessed with Facebook and Craigslist, and the kids spending way too much time lately on the tablet playing music and apps, I knew we were using far too much data around here and it was probably going to get expensive.  I remember hearing about the Walmart Family Mobile plans and how affordable they are so I decided to check it out. We have a variety of devices that the kids use sometimes.  The tablet is great sometimes but when we are out and about and I need to keep somebody busy for awhile {think waiting at the doctor}.  Having a smartphone that can keep up with our data use and not cost me an arm and a leg.  We decided to try out the Walmart Family Mobile PLUS plan because it includes unlimited talk, text and data; including up to 10 GB of 4G LTE data PLUS a free movie on VUDU {$7 value} every month per line.  All of this for $49.88 a line.  Not only is this a great deal for a phone plan, the data is exactly what we need.  The free movie every month is a total plus for us.  It gives us more options for our weekly movie night with the kids.  We love to all curl up around the laptop or tablet and watch a movie all snuggled together for some quality family time.  This was like icing on the cake for us. We already knew we liked the Samsung phones so we decided on the Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime for $99 on rollback from $149.  Since we didn’t already have a Walmart Family Mobile plan, we had to purchase the $25 starter kit as well.  I was beyond thrilled when the cashier offered to set it up for us right on the spot. Disclaimer: All prices for phones and plans included in this post are accurate as of the date of posting; however, these prices are subject to change. Please refer to http://cbi.as/28aqc or your local Walmart for current pricing. Getting a deal on extra data plus a movie is a huge bonus for our family.  Knowing we don’t have to worry about using too much data on any of our devices plus having a great phone that I can count on anytime, whether I’m at home, on the go or need a technology babysitter while I am showing houses, the Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime with the Walmart Family Mobile PLUS plan is the answer to our needs.  Now I can get my work done, the kids can have some educational fun, we get a family movie AND we never have to worry about using too much data. I did my research but I know there are other kindergarten apps that should be on my list.  I’d love for you to leave me a comment letting me know your favorite apps, whether or not they made this list. Today is our due date! Is this our last pregnancy update?

Wow!  The day is finally here….our due date.  I’m thinking it doesn’t mean a whole lot.  Maggie was 4 days past her due date.  I really thought we would have this baby early because it’s felt like baby was just going to fall out for over a month now.  Oh well.  When baby is ready, baby is ready.   I have been having contractions for 2 weeks now, but not super strong contractions.  On Saturday, I was sure it was time.  I had contractions practically nonstop for about 6 hours, but not super strong ones.  They were accompanied by low back pain every time, so we are getting somewhere.  I hear that’s very common with baby #2.  I was miserable for those hours.  I could hardly move my back was hurting so much.  Okay, it wasn’t the worst pain ever…nowhere near the awfulness of back labor, but it still hurt!   Last night I was having contractions again quite a bit and these were accompanied by strong pelvic pressure but not even to warrant a trip to the hospital.  I called Labor and Delivery hoping they would have me come in and check my cervix so I would know where we were at, but no luck there.  Weird, right?  But….John was planning to keep working until I called him to come home.  I really didn’t want him to leave last night because I’m sure it will be in the next few days when baby makes an appearance, but I was okay if he chose to go.  He decided to stay though and I am so glad!!!!  I was having a hard time toward Maggie’s bedtime to move I would be in so much pain.  I really hope that baby shows up soon or I will feel dumb for having him stay when he is planning to take the week off after baby arrives.  We have saved up some money for this, but it would be nice if we didn’t have to use all of it!  Oh well, whatever makes things easiest for me right now I am all for!    The worst part for me is the numbness in my arms.  Both of them….all the time.  If I lift my hands above my waste for even a few minutes I can’t feel my fingertips.  I had this happen with Maggie, but not until after I delivered her.   It lasted for months!  Right now, I can’t feel my left fingers they are all numb.  This is interfering with my sleep and everything else!   I’m super excited for baby though!  This morning, John put his hand on my belly to say good morning to baby and Maggie yelled at him and pushed his hand away so she could put her hand on my belly.  She loves baby so much.  I am really excited to meet this baby, but I may be even more excited for Maggie and baby to meet!   *Funny comments people made recently*  Lady at Walmart yesterday……Holy Crap!!!! Is there only one in there!   When people say things like that and then ask when I’m due, I kind of want to tell them not for another month just to have some fun with it 🙂 So…if suddenly I’m not posting…that means baby has arrived!  I can’t wait!   Last chance to make your guesses!  Boy or girl?  What day will baby choose for a birth […]
