I often feel like I spend all day cleaning, yet at the end of the day, nothing seems to have been accomplished.  Does that happen to anybody else?  With 3 little kids and John, our house is busy, fun and full of action.  I like to have a little bit of sanity at the end of the night, so there are 2 places I really want to have clean.   When I’m winding down at the end of the night, I do not want to look at toys, clothes, or anything else.  My living room has to be mostly picked up or I won’t feel relaxed.  The other room is my laundry room.  Maybe because that is the first room I see when I come into our house, maybe because I have an endless supply of laundry and feel like I spend all day in there.  You would think it would be the 4 year old princess who has to change a hundred times a day, but no.  It’s the 2 year old who may have spilled a tiny drop of water on his clothes and since they are wet, he must change them immediately.  {You are shaking your head because this happens at your house too, aren’t you?}

John had been commenting the other day about our lack of fabric conditioner and how he liked it when our laundry smelled extra clean and fresh.  Since I had to run to Walmart the other day anyways {seriously, starting to feel like I live there}, I figured I would pick some up.  I decided to try the Suavitel® liquid fabric conditioner and Suavitel® Fragrance Pearls™.

Suavitel In Store There were 2 scents to choose from, lavender and field flowers.  Since I almost always choose lavender, I decided instead on the field flowers scent because it smells amazing!  Plus, right now you can get a sample of the Suavitel® Fragrance Pearls™ on select Suavitel® liquid fabric conditions.  I also saw an adorable basket while I was there, and for some reason decided that I just had to have it so that I could give my laundry room a mini makeover when I got home.

How to spruce up a laundry room

Since I had FINALLY gotten the entire laundry room cleaned up to the point of being able to find the floor, I wanted to keep on top of the laundry so I tossed in a load right away using the Suavitel® Fragrance Pearls™ that I had just picked up.  Now, since our laundry room is also our mud room, it gets kind of smelly.  When I went to switch the laundry, I was pleasantly surprised by the scent in the room. Because the scent boosters have 5 x longer lasting fragrance, even after I was done the room still smelled great.   I was instantly reminded of a bright, sunny day with no worries.  It smelled so good back there that I wanted to stay and hide for awhile. As I was putting the laundry into the dryer, I realized it needed a little something else and I was feeling inspired.  I pulled out some canvases that I have been wanting to design, pulled out some twine and a few cans of colored spray paint and got to work.  I love how they turned out.  I only took a little bit of time out of my day and the room is so bright and inviting now.  Here is how you can make some spray paint canvas art yourself.

Gather your materials.  You need a canvas in a size that works for your project.  Twine, masking tape and spray paint.

*Note:   You can start with a plain canvas or choose to spray paint a background color that will be seen when the twine is taken off. I chose to do a light coat of lavender.*DIY Canvas Art

Step 1:  Tape one end of the twine to the back of the canvas.

Step 2:  Begin spray painting in the desired pattern.  I chose to use 3 different colors for ours.

Step 3:  Remove twine.  Let dry.

I told you, ridiculously easy and fast.  Do you love how it turned out?  Has a certain scent ever inspired you to create something?

  • Love the wall art! I can’t believe how easy it is and how great it looks!!! I love when a scent fills a room! I can’t wait to try the in-wash scent boosters! #client

  • So pretty! I need more wall art too. I don’t think a scent has ever inspired me to create something although when I get a scent of citrus fruit I get more energized.
