If you have been following my blog, you already know that I just had a baby. If you are new, you know now! My little Charlie man is almost a month old already! {Insert congratulations here :)}
When my daughter was born, my supply was less than I had hoped and I was being told by her doctor that I needed to offer her formula. I spent all day feeding her, pumping and offering her that, and offering her formula after that. I was flat out exhausted! I was put on a prescription to help increase my supply and maybe it did, I didn’t notice. Maggie was a snacker and ate constantly. It was a stressful situation for me. I cried so hard about this.
When we found out we were pregnant again, I prayed SO hard for a very abundant milk supply. I would do anything to not have to worry if my baby was getting enough milk from me. I heard about Milkmakers and they agreed to work with me on a review (and a giveaway for one of you wonderful readers).
Emily created Milkmakers quite simply because she needed them! She went back to work after having her first child. Between work life, home life and fitting in time to pump, her milk supply was dwindling and she worried about providing enough milk for her daughter. A lactation consultant told her about lactation cookies and they seemed too good to be true. Seriously, eat cookies and increase milk supply? Well, Emily immediately saw a boost in her milk supply. Lactation cookies promote an abundant supply of breast milk resulting in a well fed baby and a happy family.
What is in Milkmakers cookies that makes them so effective? Oats, brewers yeast and flax seed.
–Oats are a nutritional powerhouse providing tons of whole grains, fiber, iron and many healthy vitamins, minerals and antioxidants.
–Brewer’s yeast is a traditional herbal remedy that stimulates and increases the production of breastmilk. It is a rich source of the B vitamins and amino acids essential for nursing moms and babies.
–Flax seed provides omega 3 fatty acids necessary for brain development which can be passed from mom to baby through breastmilk.
By eating milkmakers cookies, you get the nutrition you need to support your breast milk supply and can feel good about eating something so delicious, natural, and fresh that it could have come from your own kitchen!
Milkmakers come in two delicious flavors: Chocolate Chip and Dairy Free Oatmeal Raising.
See? Don’t they look delicious? Just eat one or two cookies a day and watch your baby plump up from all that wonderful milk you are giving her!
What did I think? Well, the first thing I noticed was that these weren’t tiny little cookies..they were pretty big. I fully intended to take a picture of a cookie with my hand under it so you could see the awesome size, but I kept forgetting and then when I remembered, it was my last cookie and I dropped it and it was no longer whole, so my apologies, but I promise, you will be surprised by how big they are (and excited).
I received both flavors to review and I loved them both! These cookies really are delicious! I had to sneak them so my daughter didn’t try to make me share with her. Don’t worry though, you can share. Even if you aren’t breastfeeding, you can eat these cookies. They won’t make you suddenly start leaking milk.
Did they boost my milk supply? I can’t answer 100 % but I think they did. I started eating them as soon as I got home from the hospital, and yes, I ate the two a day instead of just one. I wasn’t taking any chances on struggling with my supply. I actually got engorged the day after I got home and sadly, I was excited about this. It never happened with my daughter, so I knew I was making more milk right away. Charlie man definitely gets enough milk from me, you can see from his milk drunk expression. I have made it 21 months so far with my daughter breastfeeding and hope to have an equally wonderful and successful breastfeeding relationship with my sweet boy.
See? Milk drunk happy little guy!
Are there any downsides to Milkmakers cookies? No! Not really, although I find the price somewhat high for cookies….$49.00 for a one month supply (3 Bags – 90 cookies). However, after my experience with my daughter, I will gladly pay this price to have peace of mind that my baby has a full belly.

Charlie is a cutie! I’ve just begun to breastfeed again…my daughter will be one week tomorrow. She’s a good little nurser, which I am so thankful for! The total time that I have breastfed, counting all three of my children, is 27 months, plus this one week. 🙂 My goal is one year, plus as long as my new little one wants to keep going. I hope that BFing continues going well for you and Charlie!
Thank you so much! I hope breastfeeding continues well for you as well. Congrats on the new little one!
they look yummy… I have been breastfeeding my son for two years now. I am expecting #2 in October and I plan to nurse them both. I love to make lactation cookies at home but would love to try these!!
2 years is awesome! We are almost there with my daughter. I hope you delivery goes wonderful!
I would love to try these. With my first it took longer to get my milk in and I struggled with him breastfeeding because he was tongue tied. In the end I had to exclusively pump, but was lucky that supply was good. This time I am really hoping to get baby to latch well so I can breastfeed. Hopefully supply will not be an issue, but yummy cookies never hurt.
I hope supply is not an issue for you. It’s so stressful when it is. That’s great that you had such good luck pumping the first time, I was never able to pump much at a time. i have heard a lot about tongue tied babies lately and the struggles that come with it.
I love that they make these. I had supply issues with my oldest and I had not idea how to handle it. Luckily since then I have developed a network of mommies to help me! These would definitely come in handy for our next child
Support is the most important thing (in my opinion) when breastfeeding is a struggle. Without it, so many moms just give up because they don’t know what to do.
I would love to try these, I have heard great things about them. I made my own lactation cookies but didn’t notice a huge difference. My daughter is 9 months old and we are still BFing!
Good for you! I am way too lazy to make my own cookies!
I haven’t had supply issues but I would love these cookies. I tried to make some on my own but it wasn’t tasty.
That’s what I’m thinking it would turn out like if I tried to make my own.
So glad they worked for you! I’ve heard nothing but good things. My daughter is one (today is actually her birthday!) and I noticed my supply dropping. I’ve been trying tea, but would really love to try these cookies as well. My goal was to reach at least 3 years breastfeeding. <3
Happy birthday to your daughter! Good for you. I hope you are able to reach your goal.
I’ve been checking out lactation cookie recipes for when this baby gets here. I struggled with my son because of lack of good support/advice. Now I’m a little paranoid about supply this time around. Figure cookies certainly won’t hurt (and will be delicious)! 🙂

That’s how I felt this time too! Paranoid but its been much better.
I just started breastfeeding my first 7 days ago! It has been a struggle, but I know that it will be worth all of the work. I am always so afraid I won’t produce enough milk to feed her!
It sure is worth it. Congrats on the baby!
Aww.. that photo is so sweet! I’m glad things are working out for you. I’m hoping I won’t have too many issues trying to breastfeed our little one when he arrives this month!
Awww! Good luck. I hope things go well – or are already going well. I wish you the best and congratulations on your new little one.
Since going back to work I have struggled with my supply. I would definitely be willing to eat some cookies if that helped. 😉
I think that’s a transition a lot of moms have trouble with. I hope it goes great for you!
supply isn’t something that’s been a huge problem, but i love nursing my 4 month old and i love cookies…so i’d totally try them!
Can’t hurt! And who doesn’t love a reason to eat cookies.
In two weeks we will have been breastfeeding for a year! It’s been a long road with many supply issues, but we are still at it!
Congratulations on keeping it up. Supply problems are so very stressful. Good luck!
I’m always trying to up my supply, so thank you for such a wonderful giveaway!
Thanks for entering. Good luck!
Congratulations on your little Charlie man! I have a little Charlie girl myself!
After I had my son I was given a bag of Milk Makers and loved them. I found a recipe online for lactation cookies and have been making them ever since! The ones I make aren’t as big as the Milk Maker ones, but then again, I give them to my children, so they need to be smaller. lol
Good for you to make your own! I am not nearly ambitious enough, but my Maggie girl has decided she loves to bake lately, so maybe we will try.
I know a few Charlie girls, no Charlie boys though (which is part of why we loved the name).
I have not had my first baby yet, he is still “baking” (21 weeks now!); but my midwife advocates baking lactation cookies or buying them, so I am stoked to have found a great place to get them online!
Congratulations on your first! I hope breastfeeding goes wonderfully for you.
And you are due around the same time as my sister!
Always looking for ways to boost!
I had a great nursing experience with my last but I must admit, my first two were not as great as I wanted them to be. With my first daughter, I wanted to breastfeed, but had no support. I was 20 years old and had no friends who had nursed before, or who had even had a baby. I was able to breastfeed for 2 months, along with formula. I had a horrible breast engorgement experience and I had no idea what to do. Since my daughter would not nurse on my right breast, I kept feeding her on my left, thus creating a huge problem as my right breast kept filling with milk. This led to my final decision to not nurse any longer. I also bled badly and had horrible scabs on my nipples.
My second breastfeeding was much better. I was extremely determined so I tried my best to stand the pain of the first two weeks and we made it. I did occasionally get scabbed nipples and around 4 months, I noticed a decrease in my milk. I searched my options and found Organic Mother’s Milk, at a local vitamin store. It seemed to help and I was able to keep up with nursing until my daughter was 8 months. That is when I decided to stop nursing her. She would still be hungry when every bit of my milk was gone, even after the let down. I was disappointed and I felt like I failed, in a way.
Now, with my 3rd little girl…I had a great experience. I drank the tea occasionally just because it had seemed to help with my last. I was able to breastfeed her for 13 months and I felt like she was ready to stop. I was very proud of myself for being able to keep breastfeeding that long so I didn’t feel too bad about stopping.
I want to try these cookies!!! 🙂

You have had a whole range of experiences. Support is so important. And knowledge. I understand the feeling like you failed. That’s how I felt with Maggie, if I can’t even do this, how can I be a good mommy. Good for you to keep trying each time, many people would have just given up.
Congratulations on this pregnancy and may your milk be plentiful 🙂
I would love the chance to try these. I just had my second son and my supply doesn’t seem to be nearly as much as it was with my first son and he never fully seems satisfied
I hope our supply balances out a bit more for you and you have a great time breastfeeding your little one.
