I hope you are having as much fun as I am with this event! I had the opportunity to work with some amazing sponsors and this one is no different! As you may know, I am a Smartipants blogger and love their diapers, so I was really excited to get the chance to review one of their newborn diapers – the Little Smarti. You can read my Smartipants one size diaper review here.
Smartipants was the vision of a mommy of four who was constantly looking for an economical, yet easy to use cloth diapering system. She actually was the inventor of the first ever one size fits all pocket diaper called Wonderoos, maybe you have heard of them? She has since left Wonderoos and joined the Smartipants team and we are extremely happy she did!
As a company Smartipants is committed to making cloth diapering not only easy, but affordable. Our mission is to provide smart parents with smart solutions. We are dedicated to being 100% green, environmentally friendly, economical, and determined to keep our diapers proudly made by mothers in the United States of America!
We have a facility with over 7 years of diaper making experience and look forward to changing the world one smart parent at a time.
I wouldn’t mind if it had a snap down for the umbilical cord like many of our diapers, but since both my children’s cord stumps fell off in less than a week, it hasn’t been an issue for us. I did notice that if he soaks the diaper if he isn’t changed soon after, there were a few times where it leaked through the tag on the back. Now, I generally change him very often, so it isn’t usually an issue, but when it wasn’t possible to get him changed soon after he wet it, it would wick through the tag. I also wish there were more color choices, right now you can choose from pink, blue, and white. I would love to have one in every color that Smartipants offers!
I hope you head over to Smartipants and check out their newborn diapers or some of the other great products they carry like one size diapers, wet bags, pail liners or extra sleeve inserts.

I am still learning about newborn cloth diapering so I am not sure what is most important.
cord cutout and aio
Haven’t used cloth with a newborn (we started at 5 months old) but will do cloth with the next. I would think a good fit would be a must and also cost, for me, as you would need quite a few newborn dipes it seems!

I haven’t used cloth with a newborn yet, but the snap-down for the cord and snug fit around the legs to save us from poopy BM blowouts are a big one for me.
I can’t wait to learn all about newborn diapering first hand.
Ease of use is the most important thing to me about newborn cloth diapering. If a diaper is hard to maneuver in the dark or leaks, it isn’t worth the hassle!
Kimberlie
The diaper has to contain leaks well.
I love how well you said it fit him! We are due with baby #2 in December and our first daughter had tiny little bird legs and so I love knowing that this could be a great option for us with our newborn!
I really love it when nb diapers have a good weight range. Up to 12lbs is great! My first hit 15lbs at 6 months, so I’d get a lot of use out of these!
I think the most important is a good fit and ease of use since you are changing so often and lots of middle of the night diapers… u definitely want those ones to be easy changes!

The most important thing about newborn cloth for me is that it doesn’t leak! I don’t want to change outfits with every diaper change!
A good fit (which helps with leaks) is very important to me! I don’t want anything bulky or saggy. Anne Sweden
I like AIOs and a good fit to avoid leaks.

Ok they have to be cute but they also have to keep the poo inside the diaper 🙂
Most important is a good fit on the baby (KatieL)
I’m glad that this goes up to 12 lbs as I usually have big babies and long lasting when in the newborn stage is important, esp with easy velcro closures!
Easy to use during nighttime diapering!!!!
the most important to me in newborn fluff is velcro closure. i typically am a snap lover, but with brand new little babies, a perfect fit is SOOO important.
In a newborn diaper, it’s important to me that pee can’t seep out the back while baby sleeps! This was our biggest problem at first.
I haven’t cloth diapered a newborn yet, but absorbancy would be top on my list.
Having used sposies during the newborn phase, I would say leak protection and mess containment are most important!
2 things I look for in newborn CD’s….1 is the fit and #2 is the absorbancy and leak/ mess containment 🙂
The most important thing to me in newborn diapers would be ease. I want to be able to do it super quick and not have to mess around with a diaper so that baby would end up peeing everywhere before the diaper is on 🙂
Cord cutout!
I didn’t CD with my newborn (started at 8 weeks), but I will round 2. I love the cord cutout and how soft they are 🙂
Its pretty important to me to have gussets on covers to prevent blowouts! Since I am having a girl this time, color choices are also pretty important, because I want to have her a pretty girly stash!

Being able to speed up the changing process with either velcro or snapis is important.
I would say leak protection and fit are most important and the two seem to go hand in hand.

Leak protection definitely! (And cute factor, ha!)
Thanks for the review; this looks like a great little newborn diaper. What is most important to me is that they can fit a small newborn, starting from 5 lbs, and are easy to use when sleep deprived!
Most important: keeps in runny newborn poo!
The most important is that it be affordable since babies will outgrew newborn diapers quickly.
Since my daughter was almost 10 lbs. at birth, I look at the weight range to see how high it can go.
Everyone is telling me that cloth diapers have gotten much easier so I want to try them next time
Most important to me in NB fluff is ease of use. When it’s 4am and I am changing the 8th diaper that night I need something easy!
My important to me is the fit! Love that this one goes up to 12 lbs as well!
I started cloth diapering when my dd was 9 months old. I’m starting this next one off in NB. I’m nervous about the belly button & this one being a boy. I find it hard to get absorbant longlasting diapers for my dd. Im worried about poop & blow outs w/ a nB. If we are blowout free..im a happy momma.
What’s important to me is an easy to use diaper, especially for a middle-of-the night change when I am half asleep 🙂
easy to use, good fit that won’t leak
i like that it is an all in one leak proof diaper
I couldn’t do cloth until my LO’s belly button nub fell off…I would say most important is that there is room for the belly button.
