When we bought out house, it finally felt like I was home.  I’ve moved around a lot in my life and it was always fine, but this finally felt like home.  5 1/2 years later, it really does feel like home.  Things have changed a lot over the last few years.  John use to be gone for 2-3 weeks at a time and it was just me and Maggie and Charlie.  Now, he has a new job where he is home every day.  That alone has brought a sense of security to me but there are still times I pull in the driveway after the kids and I have been out somewhere and wonder if there could be some crazy hiding out in the house.  I know it’s just me being a little paranoid, but it is still there in my head sometimes.

We’ve talked about getting a home security system but still hadn’t done anything.  When I had the chance to review the NETGEAR Arlo Smart Home security cameras, I was thrilled. I couldn’t wait to get it.

The system we received is the motion activated NETGEAR Arlo Smart Home security camera system with the Netgear Router and Geek Squad Protection.  There are four cameras that capture 720p video footage.  I’ll admit, I was a little nervous.  Our internet out here is terrible and streaming videos never goes well, so I wasn’t entirely possible it would work here.  When it arrived, I quickly got to setting up the system.  It was very easy to follow the step by step instructions to get it all set up and ready to use.

I set up the cameras and put them to use.  The thought of knowing that I can not only pick up my smartphone whenever I want to and watch what is going on at home but I actually get an email and a phone alert whenever movement is detected.  If you think this sounds amazing, you are right.  If you think it sounds overwhelming, you may be right too.  But it isn’t overwhelming at all because you can choose when to have it motion activated.  If you home and moving around, you probably could turn it off, although I like to catch the spontaneous silliness that happens around here.  A shining example of life in our house – The kids and I were at a birthday party and I was showing my family how we can check on the house from anywhere.  I pulled up the Arlo app on my phone and what did we see?  John vacuuming up those orange ladybugs……in his underwear.  Ha!

The NETGEAR Arlo smart home security cameras can be used inside or outside which allows you to really protect your home and the things that matter.  With the wide 130 degree view, you see what is really going on, not just some small space in a room.  I love the flexibility to put the cameras where you need them easily using the magnetic mounts and the standing mount.  

Another thing I wondered about was just how good of a picture I was going to get in the dark.  See for yourself, but I think it takes a fantastic night vision picture.  The Arlo Smart Home security cameras can take a night vision picture of up to 25 feet.  I’m hoping that we can catch some of the deer and coyotes in the yard and get a glimpse of the things we don’t’ normally get to see.
