I have been thinking lately that I am HUGE compared to my first pregnancy. I’m assuming this is normal, either way, not too worried, just something I noticed. The other day, I ran into Maggie because I didn’t realize she had stopped and I didn’t see her because of my belly. Oops!!
Now, about Baby #2…
Baby weighs about 1 1/2 pounds and is 8 1/2 inches long (although this baby feels much much bigger), has outgrown the fruit references, and is about the size of a standard letter. Baby is gaining about 6 ounces a week now, not quite as much as me, but getting a lot closer. Much of that weight is coming from accumulating baby fat, as well as from growing organs, bones, and muscle. By now, baby’s tiny face is almost fully formed – YAY!!! Complete with a full set of eyelashes and eyebrows and a good sprinkling of hair on that head. That hair is snow white still since there’s no pigment just yet. I wonder if baby will have lots of hair or not. My daughter came out with a decent amount.
Here’s what baby looks like:
What’s up with us this week:
Symptoms: I was feeling kind of barfy this week, but kept it all down. I have to pee ALL OF THE TIME! I think Maggie is starting to wonder what’s going on with me. My skin has been super dry lately and I can’t seem to put enough lotion on. I am pretty sure I had hemorrhoids at one point, but not positive, but it was scary….
Weight gain: I gained 2 pounds this week.
Cravings: Lucky charms! But I don’t like to eat it when Maggie is up because she steals the marshmallows, so I have it for my bedtime snack. And Lil Cuties. Salty Foods have really been appealing to me as well.
Aversions: My food aversions haven’t been quite as bad this pregnancy as the first, but I made squash and hamburger for dinner last night and when I pulled it out of the oven, the thought of eating it made me gag….I am not that bad of a cook!
What made me cry: Everything! I don’t full out cry, but I tear up and choke back tears over just about everything. This week, John left for work, so that really set me off crying. And if anybody is the least bit mean, or I perceive meanness, I cry.
Something that made me happy: I was playing with Maggie the other day. We had her big, soft, orange soccer ball out, and I stuck it under my shirt. She kept peeking at it and taking it out, so I put it in her shirt and told her she had a baby. She thought it was hilarious. She didn’t have much room for it with her tiny clothes, but kept putting it in there and trying to look at it.
Today, she made me hold her baby doll and help the doll talk on her phone while she sat on my other lap. I guess she wants to prepare me for the end of June, although I don’t think the baby will be on the phone.
Have I mentioned that I am so excited!!!!! 16 weeks left!
Returning the favor from the hop! I’ll be following back! 😀 Congratulations on the little one to come! Babies are such a blessing!
