My Pregnancy Week 37

Happenings of the Harper Household

I’m linking up again this week to tell you all about my week in pregnancy.

About baby this week
Exciting news, if baby were born today, he or she would be considered full term!  Yay!  Baby is still gaining weight at about a half pound a week and weighs around 6 1/2 pounds.  Fat continues accumulating on baby making dimples in elbows, knees and shoulders and adding creases and folds in the neck and wrists.  Baby is also practicing inhaling and exhaling amniotic fluid getting ready for that first breath, sucking his or her thumb, blinking and pivoting from side to side.
What baby looks like this week
What’s up with baby and I?
Well, the good news first, my heartburn is gone, at least for the most part.  But have no fear, that’s been replaced with even more unpleasantness and yes, I will share that with you 🙂  I seem to be getting headaches really bad the last few days which is really uncommon.  For some reason tonight, my eyes seem all foggy, hoping it’s just from lack of sleep.  My stomach is still all itchy, but much better than it was last week.  I was beginning to think I was going to scratch it until it bled it hurt so much.  I am starving much more often the last few days, and last but not least…I got the big H….just the word grosses me out, but this is seriously more unpleasant than child birth the first time around!  I have never been so uncomfortable in my life!  I’m really hoping it goes away before delivery day arrives!!!!  I’ll spare you the rest of the dreary details related to that though.
Tonight I took a bath with Maggie to try and ease the discomfortIt seemed to help some, and Maggie really enjoyed it.  We ran out of hot water, and I wanted to get out, but she kept telling me to sit because she was pretending to pour the soap out of the bottle to wash my belly.  It was super cute.
I am really loving these days of snuggling with my Maggie girl and am trying to get extra snuggles in before baby arrives.  I am so excited lately, but also feeling overwhelmed.  Because of my discomfort and lack of wanting to even move, I haven’t gotten a thing done, and I would really like to get a few things done before the baby arrives.  I am so excited that I can’t fall asleep at night, and that doesn’t help.  I am so completely exhausted!

  • I hope your headaches go away soon, the foggy eyes could be serious though. Might want to tell your doctor about it, my sister-in-law had part of her eye burst during her pregnancy because of the pressure, but she was diabetic. Is your honey home to help you, or are you still alone? Praying your baby comes soon and that you get some rest!

    • We had our 38 week checkup today, and everything seems okay. I’m thinking a lot of it could be due to the heat. It’s been a bit cooler today and I seem to not have a headache. That eye burst is really scary sounding!

John was home for the weekend. Now he’s only working 5 hours away instead of 11, so we are both a bit less stressed. The girls from our breastfeeding group keep offering to cook, clean, watch Maggie, whatever I need. Now, I just need to learn to accept the help instead of try to be supermom all the time!
