Operation Redecorate the Dining Room Part 2 (&3) Vinyl Disorder *Review and Giveaway*

If you have been following my blog, you know I was redoing our large dining room.  We have been in our house since April 2010 and have been putting this off because the painting part is such a big project.  Well, it finally got painted, or at least the one wall did.  When I had the chance to review a vinyl decal from Vinyl Disorder, I was thrilled!  I had been trying to figure out what I was going to do with that wall because it is so big and I am not an all star decorator.
Then came the decision of which one (note:  I am not good at making decisions).  Here is the one I finally decided on.  I had it narrowed down to 3, and I think I was swayed in this one because the picture on the website looks just like our fireplace.
If you have been looking for a way to decorate a large space, small space, or something in between, vinyl wall decals are the perfect solution.  I have to admit something here, I had no idea that this existed!  I thought people were super good painters!  I need to get out more, I know.  I thought, how awesome.  I don’t have to ruin the paint, I can move it if I want to, if we repaint in the future, just take it down and remove it.
Vinyl Disorder has over 70,000 different options for your wall, car, even the floor if you want to get crazy!  They are broken down into categories to give you a starting point, which was nice.  You can look by bedroom, bathroom, or family quotes which was nice so I didn’t waste time on something I didn’t need now.  We definitely went with a family and friends quote.
What did I think?
Well, we read and followed the instructions closely.  We rubbed down the letters to press them to the correct side so that we could just pull the back off and have them stick to the wall.  However, this didn’t work very well for us.  This project ended up taking much longer than was expected because no matter how much we rubbed, the letters wouldn’t peel off super easy.  Some of them did, but most of them, John had to use the scraper to pull off and press on the wall.  I have no idea if this had something to do with having a freshly painted wall.  We did try a few different things when it wasn’t working out right; we tried wetting it down and waiting for it to dry, tried rubbing a rag over the wall, nothing made a difference.
I really like that the letters and words do come off individually though, so if you didn’t want it like it is shown above, you could spread it out all the way across the wall (we considered this, but I vetoed it).  It allows for even more fun with decorating.

The finished product was amazing!  I was so happy with the outcome of our wall quote from Vinyl Disorder.  It does a great job of filling up the wall and adding some character to the room.  Plus, the quote makes me smile and feel all cozy every time I look at it.

My overall opinion, I love the outcome but not how difficult it was for us to get it on the wall.  Would I buy more, yes, I would.  I want more quotes for the whole house, but have to get to the point where we are working in that room before it happens.  I have an equally large wall on the other side of the house that needs a little something above the window.  The fact that our room can go from drab to fab and we stay within our budget is a win for us.
