As a homeschool family, we read a lot! We also listen to stories on Audible quite a bit. There are so many benefits to listening to books on audio and I’m excited to share some of them with you.
The first is to pass the time. We spend a lot of time driving to and from activities and events. At first, it was tough to figure out how to fit some learning in. Then I realized many of the books we love to read were available on Audible. As a family, we love historical fiction so we listen to quite a bit of that style books. This helps the kids to get way less frustrated with being in the truck so often.
The second way Audible is used most often in our house is at bedtime. The kids each have a story they are listening to on their own and then we have the ones we listen to together. They listen to their story as they go to bed at night. We have so many books right now and they have listened to all of them multiple times because they are such good books! As a homeschool family, this has added so much to what we are listening to or learning about. It has also been great for my boys who don’t enjoy reading to themselves but love listening to stories or being read to.
Audible is also a great way to have some quiet time while doing other activities like coloring together as a family, or building Legos.
I am always reading at least one book at a time. I also love to have an Audible book to listen to while driving by myself. This is a great time for me to get in some books for improving my business or self-help books.

A Night Divided. This was our very first book by Jennifer Nielsen and we were absolutely hooked! Everyone of her historical fiction books is amazing!
Words on Fire. I love listening to a book about books!
Ground Zero. This was a great listen to let kids learn about 9/11.
Refugee. This was one of the kids’ other Alan Gratz books.
Hatchet. This was our very first audiobook and we listened to it over and over! Such a great story.
