Before I started using essential oils, there were some oils that I heard about repeatedly. One of them was lavender oil. People were talking about using it for all sorts of things. I thought it may be helpful, especially for those just getting started to share some of the uses for lavender oil.
- Soothe minor burns by applying 2-3 drops of oil to the affected area.
- Rub lavender oil on dry, chapped lips or skin to moisten the affected area.
- Add a few drops of lavender essential oils to a cotton ball and place in a drawer or closet to scent linens and deter moths and insects.
- Help minimize the appearance of scar tissue by massaging lavender essential oil on and around the affected area.
- Apply a few drops of lavender essential oil to a wet cloth or wool dryer balls to scent your laundry.
- Diffuse lavender oil to help minimize seasonal discomfort.
- Rub a few drops of lavender essential oil on your hand and spread on your children’s sheets and pillow to help them sleep.
- Diffuse lavender essential oil to set the mood for a baby shower or other gathering.
- Diffuse or inhale lavender essential oil to calm your mind, body and spirit after a hard day.
- Diffuse lavender essential oil at night in the bedroom to help you rest.
- Rub lavender essential oil on the feet to help calm your body.
- Apply lavender oil along the jaw line to help ease teething discomfort in young children {I recommend diluting using V-6 or coconut oil in young children}.
- Apply a drop of lavender essential oil on a bee sting or insect bite to help ease swelling, itching and discomfort.
- Apply lavender oil to a cut to help stop the bleeding.
- Mix a few drops of lavender oil with coconut or olive oil on eczema or dermatitis.
- Place a drop of lavender on the end of the tongue, around the naval or behind the ears to help with motion sickness.

- Add 8 drops of lavender essential oil to water in a 32 ounce spray bottle and use as an all natural air freshener.
- Place 2-3 drops of lavender essential oil to the inside of new toilet paper rolls. As you use the toilet paper, it releases the fresh lavender scent into the air, leaving a fresh smelling bathroom.

- Placing a drop of lavender essential oil in a water fountain will scent the air, kill bacteria, and lengthen the time between cleanings.
Personally, I have to dilute lavender essential oil to use it on myself, otherwise, I get a little bit itchy. Do what works for you and your family. Not all essential oils are created equally. While you may find cheaper bottles on the internet, or even in some stores, they are not therapeutic grade and are not to be ingested. I would love to try adding this into my homemade laundry soap when I wash our bedding. My oldest has a hard time falling asleep and I have always heard that lavender helps to calm and relax people to allow them to fall asleep easier.
I had no idea that Lavender Oil could be used so many ways, I like the one about burns, and the fountain one, and all I have been using for is to help relax, wow thank you for this article

I didn’t realize you could use it on cuts. I apply it to the bottom of my feet to help me sleep.
Ugh. The last 2 nights I forgot to use it at bedtime for our family and the kids took FOREVER to settle down. And yes, it was amazing the first time I tried it on my throbbing thumb. It was almost instant relief. My kids always ask for their oil if they get a scrape.
I’d like to try using it on my bug bites. Mosquitoes love me!
