Valentine’s Day doesn’t have to mean going out. Sometimes, it can be more fun just staying in. Whatever your reasons, no money for a babysitter, sick, not in the mood to go out, here are some date night in ideas that are sure to spice up your Valentine’s Day.
Have a Great Date Night IN!
To start with, ditch the phones, ditch the computer and connect with each other!
Make your home into a bed and breakfast. Whether your favorite destination is up north, or a cozy little B&B in Vermont, put a little effort into some decorating and feel transported!
Love is like a box of chocolates. You know how you can buy those Dove chocolates that have the little message on the wrapper? Well, you could buy a box {or two} of chocolates and write your own messages to each other and place them under the chocolates. Then, as you eat them, you will get a little love message.
Play board games, RISK, Monopoly, strip cribbage, strip scrabble, the choices are endless! I like to play the longer games like RISK because it gives us the chance, and a reason to sit, talk and focus on each other.
Sing Karaoke together!
Play Wii, or Xbox or any other gaming system like that. Atari anybody? We love to play Wii Dance or bowling.
Dinner and a movie in. Whether it’s a movie you have been waiting to see, or you snuggle up and watch a series of one of your favorites {like Sons of Anarchy}. Make dinner to go along with the movie, or do what I do….cook a pizza!
Take a couples bubble bath. Have some strawberries, some wine or champagne, rose petals and soft music.
Have a theme night. Italian? Mexican? Japanese? Cozy little ski lodge? Make a dinner that fits your theme, play appropriate music, and throw in a movie to go with it. Why not dress the part as well!
Go dancing. In your living room. Turn on the tunes, dress up {or don’t dress at all, there are no rules here} and dance the night away.
Pretend you are dining out at your favorite restaurant. Put out the table cloth, cook up a copy cat meal. Is it the cheddar biscuits from Red Lobster? Wisconsin Mac & Cheese from Noodles & Co.?
Recreate your first date. Was your first date memorable? Recreate it. Were you dancing? Just out to dinner? You could make that copycat meal from above!
Take a blanket outside and look at the stars. Don’t forget the wine!
Deck out the bedroom with everything you could dream of. Candles, music, a canopy, wine, whatever your imagination thinks up. Leave an “invitation” for your husband, along with a present. Inside, include things like the clothes he should put on, a picture of you in some lingerie that you took at some point prior to this, and the bottle of K-Y Yours + Mine couples lubricant. Everything you need to prepare your bedroom can be found at your local Walmart, so you can pick it up when you stop in for groceries. No stopping at tons of stores to find what you need for your perfect date night in. Your #KYDateNight will be one to remember. Then, use the offers that come in specially marked packages of K-Y Yours + Mine for plated.com and vudu.com to plan your next date night in.
Date night in can be so much fun! What are your favorite date night in ideas?

I love that game. Well, I haven’t actually played strip euchre, but euchre is a lot of fun. We play a few games that are a variation on it.
What great ideas! I wish my hubby enjoyed board games because they are one of my favorite things to do. Thank you for the great post! #client

These are some great ideas! Since we will have our littles, though, we’ll most likely do something alone together over the weekend.

Fun ideas! Sometimes it’s nice to just put the kids to bed and have a date night in without the fuss of a babysitter.
