Having a toddler is generally pretty entertaining.  Having two is downright hysterical!  Living out in the country means that every trip takes at least 20 minutes one way, most of them longer than that.  I could go on and on with the silliness and the sweet moments that take place regularly, but I will share my most recent favorite.

On our way to Walmart to go grocery shopping last week, I grabbed John and I both a snack size kit kat to eat on the way.  Maggie and Charlie were in the backseat, both rear – facing, watching their movie and listening to The Wiggles dancing.  John and I were quiet, when all of a sudden:

Maggie:  Mom, what is that smell?  I smell something.

Me:  I don’t know honey, what smell?

Maggie:  It smells like chocolate.  Is it chocolate?  {Enthusiasm setting in} Do you have chocolate?  Can I have some chocolate?!!!

Me and John:  {Dumbfounded, did our daughter just SMELL chocolate}  {Not wanting to share my kit kat, and trying my very best {unsuccessfully} to not laugh}.  You smell chocolate?  Wow.  Impressive kid.  Here, you can have a bite.

Are you kidding me!!!  My daughter can smell chocolate from the backseat?  Unbelievable!!!

This isn’t a shining example of my stellar parenting skills.  I love that so much learning takes place in the car.  There is so much to see and talk about while we are driving.
