If you know me, like – AT ALL – you know I love pizza. I’m talking true love. The real deal, you follow? We have weekly pizza night at our house. Not only do we just plain love pizza but it also makes following a meal plan easier for me. You will almost always find a frozen pizza or ten in our freezer. I love knowing I can toss in a pizza anytime company arrives and I’d rather socialize than cook. I want a full meal deal though so it looks like I have put forth some effort. I never know when my sister will pop out for the football game {and by pop out, I mean drive 45 minutes because she loves me}. I recently discovered this awesome, amazing, incredible, delicious, mouthwatering thing called pull apart bread, but as usual, I had to kick it up a notch and make it my own. Hence – bacon cheddar pull apart bread. If you aren’t drooling yet, I’ll forgive you, but you will be by the time you get to the end of the post.
Anyways, like I said, I love when my sister {and anybody else} pops out to watch some football. I also like being able to look like a planner by whipping up some party food like a boss. I figured pizza would be a hit, because, well, it’s pizza – right?! On a side note – have you seen that saying, “You can’t please everybody, you aren’t pizza” It’s made for me. I also decided to make some garlic cheddar pull apart bread because I just love watching food disappear in a single moment. I’m not stopping there though, wait until you see what is up for dessert. I’m telling you, you can pull together a party for the big game in minutes, I’m not exaggerating.
We decided to try some Red Baron Classic Crust Pepperoni in the freezer section at Walmart since we haven’t had that pizza before and I like having test dummies for the new stuff. I know that no party is complete without dessert so we also picked up some Edwards frozen pies and you should too. Delicious is an understatement. The last thing to do was make the bread and most of it can be done ahead of time if you want. Now I was all prepared for game day and since I bought multiples of everything, I was ready for the big game as well.
Our party food was a hit, no surprise there. How could it be anything but fantastic with pizza, pies and bread with bacon. I’m clearly winning as a hostess this time! One friend who was here commented on the crust of the pepperoni and when I started eating, I realized she was right. It was crust perfection in every bite. We were all salivating waiting for the bread to finish cooking and couldn’t wait to dig in. To top off our game day party, we had a delicious Edwards Frozen Pie. It was love! I spent virtually no time in the kitchen and a lot of time watching some football and socializing. I can’t wait to share the recipe for the bread with you, so keep reading.
Ingredients
- Loaf of Italian bread
- 1 lb bacon
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 4 ounces cream cheese
- 1 stick butter, melted
- 1 tsp garlic powder
I’ve got your attention, don’t I?! Okay, so let’s whip this up real quick before our guests arrive, okay?
Cook your bacon. I prefer to have John cook it because I am a bacon burner but I had to do it myself this time so I tossed it in the oven.
While the bacon is cooking, mix together the butter, cream cheese and garlic powder. It doesn’t need to be smooth but make sure it’s all mixed together.
Now, take your loaf of bread and cut diagonal lines about 3/4 of the way down the loaf, be sure not to cut all the way through the bottom of the loaf. Continue making diagonal slits about an inch apart all the way down the loaf.
After you have gone from one end to the other, turn your loaf a bit and make diagonal lines the opposite way from one end of the loaf to the other.
Now it’s time for the good stuff. Take your butter, cream cheese and garlic powder mixture and, using a knife, butter the bread throughout the slits of the bread. Go both directions so all of the cut marks are buttered. It doesn’t have to be neat, so go ahead and be quick, after all, there’s a party to get to, right?
Now, repeat the process by stuffing bacon into the slits throughout the bread.
Lastly, repeat again using the cheese, stuffing it into the slits.
Wrap the bread in tinfoil and place in the oven for 20 minutes or until the cheese is fully melted. I like my cheese brown and bubbly so after 20 minutes or so, I unwrap the top of the loaf and cook it for a couple more minutes.
If you want some garlic dipping sauce, it takes seconds! I used a few tablespoons of olive oil, a teaspoon or two of garlic powder and some oregano. Mix it well, dip and enjoy.
This bacon cheese pull apart bread is the perfect party food. No worries about having enough slices of bread, dig in and pull apart some delicious goodness. Serve with some Red Baron Classic Crust Pepperoni and an Edwards frozen pie and amaze your guests with your hostess skills. What are you waiting for? Get in there and cheer your team on!

That basically sums up what everybody else had to say about it. We tried to lie and say it wasn’t good so we didn’t have to share so much but they just were not buying it.
Lol that is too funny!
