EDIT: I started writing this the summer before our first homeschool year officially began. Hitting publish apparently was too much because I forgot to do it until I realized that I wanted to add what I changed, liked, didn’t like, yada yada yada. So – here we go. Our Decision to Homeschool
This bright young lady will start kindergarten this fall. When Maggie was born, homeschool never even crossed my mind. It wasn’t until a year or two later that I began throwing it around in my head. Then, over time, it just felt like the right thing to do. I fell in love with the idea…

The Joy of Learning Something New
The other day I looked at Maggie, you know, really looked at her. Somehow, right before my very eyes, this amazing little girl of mine grew up some more. She keeps telling me that she will be 5. I am starting to believe her. We work together to learn new things all of the time,…
Our Valentine’s Day
Since I didn’t post this on Valentine’s Day, I figured I would send this picture your way. John made us this stand for Henry’s 4 month photo shoot. It turned out adorable! I can’t wait to see all of the other things we will be doing with it. It will be a farmer’s market stand,…
Could This Be Better Than a Dog?
While I have to admit to my fair share of “wanting to pull my hair out” days, more often than not, these 2 just crack me up. I would love to be in the mind of a child and really see things from them. Now, only a few years ago, I had a very…

Imaginary Friends
I’ve never been very good at playing pretend. I am creative, but just struggle with make believe. Maggie, however, doesn’t have any troubles with that. She lives in this amazing, fun, adventurous world where make believe shows up. You will always find Maggie spinning, dancing, and living a princess life. She is ALWAYS a princess.…
Beautiful Moments
We have been so busy lately, but have still found time for some of the most beautiful moments our life has to offer. While baking cookies, I had the kids unwrapping Andes mints. This was expected, and totally hilarious. I think this picture needs a caption. Something like, “Conversations with my sister” or something…
Maggie’s 4th Birthday: Princess Party
So I basically suck at actually getting their birthday posts finished. Her birthday party was in September, and to be honest, I still haven’t finished Charlie’s party post yet and his was in January. Better late than never, right? Since I was due 3 days after Maggie’s birthday and we have been talking about her…
Fun at the Minnesota Children’s Museum
Last weekend, we loaded up the kids and headed out for a day of fun at the children’s museum. The kids had a blast and we were all exhausted by the end. World Works is always a favorite, especially because of all of the water play. I am pretty sure this is the cutest…
First Snow
Well, yesterday was our first snowfall of the year. I don’t know the official total and I haven’t measured, but I believe we are around the 10 inch mark. With the snow drifts, we have some spots with snow up to my waist. I went out to wipe off the satellite dish and wiped out,…
Newborn Photo Shoot
Because I think my kids are so darn cute { and I am obviously not biased in any way }, I just have to share a few of my favorite pictures from Henry’s newborn picture session. Getting this picture of all 3 of them cooperating was so sweet. Here is Henry posing for…
Happy 4th Birthday to my Favorite Princess
My gorgeous, sweet, smart, sassy and very talkative little girl just turned 4 last week. I cannot believe she is 4! She had a fun birthday, and was making me laugh all day. She kept wondering why her friends were not at her house for the party. The fact that we already had her party…
Join Princess School Starting with a Princess Makeover
If your house is anything like mine, it probably feels {and looks} like a princess is living there. I’ve been working on teaching Maggie about the value of people and things that are important to us. One way that has really helped is to tell her she will get a princess makeover at Princess School. This is the kind of stuff she really gets into. I cannot tell you how many times I have heard her say something like, “That is what a princess does.” To get started – a Princess Makeover is in order.
You and Me Go Fishing in the Living Room….
I can only assume that your kids entertain you as much as mine entertain me. The other day, I was watching as they climbed up on the couch and started fishing. Charlie had Maggie’s fishing pole. All of a sudden, he starts cheering, fishy, fishy. I said, oh, you caught a fish! How exciting. …
Nail Painting Fun
Maggie has been begging me to let her paint her nails ever since her pedicure months ago wore off. I am so tired of saying later, or not today, but every time she reminded me, we just couldn’t do it then, mostly because Charlie had been sick or I was sick. Finally, while Charlie had…
Sneak Peak of Maggie’s 4th Birthday Party
I’m super excited to finish the post with all of the decorations, food, fun and everything else from Maggie’s 4th birthday party. While spending the day before the party in the hospital added a whole new level of stress, the party turned out amazing. For now, here is a sneak peak of her Barbie cake…
