When I first heard of a nursing necklace, I was thinking that this was just another gimmick, something a breastfeeding mom would get just to have it.  I was wrong I am happy to say.  You see, Maggie always loved to nurse.  Nothing could keep her from it.  There was never a time when I tried to nurse her and she didn’t want to eat.  Never.  Ever.  Ever.  
Charlie man is a whole different story.  I am pretty sure that if you look up distracted in the dictionary, his picture is there {go ahead and look, I will wait}.  Everything distracts him and he has superb hearing!  So when I had the chance to review a nursing necklace from H3idiho Designs, I jumped at it!   
Heidi is a SAHM to 3 boys and designs every single thing you find in her shop with love.  She is a natural parenting kind of mama – sound familiar to any of you?  And she is very conscious of what her little ones put in their mouths.  When she started out looking for a nursing necklace, she found they weren’t natural, had unnatural cords, were expensive, and more.  So she decided to start making her own.

I received the ORGANIC Petite Natural Wood and Hematite Heart Teething Necklace/Nursing Necklace.  

This necklace is
made with a 1 3/4″ natural birch wood ring and a heart shaped hematite stone inside.  A black, certified organic cotton cord is used for the necklace and is soft, durable and adjustable.  It can fit over any head size and be adjusted to hang higher or lower depending on your preference.  The look is completed with a natural birch wood bead double-knotted to the necklace.  
I love that the birch wood is natural wood from Maine and is not treated with any chemicals.  It’s sanded to be very smooth and finished with Organic Grape Seed Oil. 
When it first arrived, the first thing I noticed, besides how simple, yet beautiful it is, was that it was double knotted so I didn’t have to worry that any of the pieces would come lose and pose a choking hazard to my babies (however, do not let your children play with this unsupervised).  

I hadn’t been wearing jewelry much because with two little kids, it was bound to get broken.  With my necklace from h3idiho designs, I didn’t have to worry about it breaking.  My kids could pull and bite on it without worry.  I started wearing it right away, and was getting tons of compliments on how cute it is.  Nobody but me knew it was a nursing necklace (which means, I can always wear it, long after these guys are done nursing).  

Maggie was getting her eye teeth and biting, and she would reach up and bite it sometimes when she was just sitting on my lap.  I figured that it would look all chewed up, but you can’t see a single mark on it.  
Right away, Charlie started grabbing onto it when he would nurse and twisting it around in his fingers.  He also likes to put things in his mouth, so there were times he would be sitting with me and start chewing on it.  I was worried because of the heart in the center, but as it turns out, when he grabs hold to chew on it, his little fingers just push the heart out of the way.  There have been so many times he drifts off to sleep holding onto this necklace.  
I am so glad I had the chance to review this necklace.  I love it and have worn it every single day since.  Now, if I forget to put it on right away in the morning, it doesn’t take long before Charlie or I are looking for it.
