How to have a garden themed birthday party

Let’s start with…I suck and this should have been posted months ago!  But here it is now.  Happy 3rd birthday to my sweet little Maggie.

Garden Birthday

I cannot tell you why I was so set on having a garden theme for Maggie’s party, but she was okay with it.  Well, actually, it all sparked from this picture that I pinned about a year ago.  For some reason, it seemed perfect for a garden themed party.  Because of our really high vaulted ceilings, there are only a few rooms that this will work for at our house.  I like how it turned out, but I won’t lie…John had some choice words to say to the thumbtacks.

My friend Sara made this really super yummy cheese dip shaped like carrots to fit the theme.  {And she’s my hero because I was so behind} Seriously yummy!

Super easy and good for you – carrot and ranch cups.  Surprisingly, these disappeared in an instant.  Way bigger hit than I was expecting.

Fruit flowers were super easy to make even though I forgot to get the green grass looking stuff to put them in.

For the main dish – a peanut butter and jelly bar, completely stocked with a few kinds of peanut butter, mini chocolate chips, mini colored marshmallows and some jelly.  Oh, and for the adults that want something else, homemade vegetable soup.

Last but not least, what garden party is complete without some dirt cake served in a wheelbarrow?

Do you throw big bashes for your kids’ birthdays?  Ours always are because John and I both have big families and I LOVE IT!    It’s so much fun.  If I had to guess, next years party will be something princess inspired.
