I don’t know about you, but I have difficulty finding time to workout.  I think I have time, but then one of my kids needs me for something.  I spend hours every day “wearing” Charlie in the wrap.  It’s so handy when I have to get something done, and Charlie loves it.

When I heard about the Babywearing Workout, I knew I had to check it out.  This sounded like it was made for me.  Kelli had the same idea.  Kelli was a new mom who wanted to lose the baby weight.  She had struggled a bit with her weight throughout her life, and when she gained weight with the pregnancy, she didn’t really think much of it.  As I was reading about Kelli on her website, I kept shaking my head yes.  I felt the same way, about many of the things she mentions.  Attachment parenting is as important to her as it is to me, so naturally, she was wearing baby Kayla quite often.

She found herself bouncing around trying to get her to sleep.  She kind of had that aha moment when she decided to start adding exercise to her babywearing.  You see, when you get that fancy gym membership and a personal trainer, they start you out with lighter weights, and increase as you go.  Turns out, your baby does the same thing!  As baby gains weight, your exercise increases.

As I did the workout, Charlie kept smiling at me.  Such a little cutie.  And Maggie was wearing her baby doll and exercising right along with me.  It was super cute (sorry, I didn’t get those pictures).  Now, I wear Charlie quite a bit as it is.  He sleeps in it a lot.  Plus, he’s a chunker, and I lift both kids and toss them around a lot, so I felt like my arms were in pretty good shape.  Boy was I wrong!!!

About halfway through, my arms were so sore!  And, I was sweating.  This was a better workout than I was expecting.  I loved that I was able to get a good workout in which I normally have trouble with because Maggie wants to copy me and Charlie wants to be in on the action as well.  I look forward to being able to do this workout almost daily, and love that Maggie and Charlie get to see me working out too.  I also really like that you can incorporate these moves anywhere you go.  Kelli also remembers to help you warm up and stretch out and cool down to prevent injuries.

I did notice that the download took a little while, but that very likely was my laptop.  It’s older and I always have about 15 screens open.  I know that I would be more comfortable with a soft structured carrier when I do this because Charlie likes to keep his arms out and I feel like we need a little more support, but I love this wrap and it’s more comfortable than my other carrier.

If you are a mama looking to put more activity into your workout, you should check out The Babywearing Workout.  It’s available for download or you can purchase the DVD.  Right now, you can join in on TBWW New Year’s Resolution – Weight Loss Challenge and enter to win some great prizes (including an Onya…I really want this carrier!).
