Blueberry Trainers *Review*

[…]for the last 12 years and still have one kiddo in cloth diapers.  They take great pride that most of the products they sell have also been used on their own children so they can share their personal experience with you.   If you have a potty trainer, or are going to be getting to that stage, read on!  Blueberry Trainers are training pants that feel and look like real underwear.  Not only that, they are adorable!  I still can’t decide which ones are my favorite – my daughter is potty training, but I love the traffic and dinosaurs prints – ahh, when the little guy is ready!   These trainers have an inner lining made with cotton velour, and a hidden layer of super absorbent microterry and PUL.  The waist, leg bands and outer layer are 50 % cotton and 50 %  polyester.  The hidden soaker is 100 % polyester and the inner lining is 80 % cotton and 20 % polyester.  And…they are made in the USA!  Because these trainers are only partially waterproof, they will contain small accidents, but are not designed for naptime or overnight.  Blueberry trainers are available in 3 different sizes.   Small fits 22-28 pounds  Medium fits 25-35 pounds  Large fits 32-42 pounds.  Maggie is just a little peanut, and barely even hits the 22 pound mark.  We received the Blueberry swirls in a small to review.  I was a little worried about how they would fit Maggie since she was barely at 22 pounds, but I was pleasantly surprised that they fit her great!  The Blueberry trainers are quite soft.  They definitely feel like regular underwear.  When she does pee in these underwear, they hold the pee pretty well, but she can immediately feel that she is peeing and will tell me uh oh!  That is important.  I want her to feel it if she is wet.  If she pees a lot though, these underwear won’t hold it all, which is the point!  Because these look like real underwear, they should pull up and down like real underwear, right?  And they do!  Maggie just turned 2, and dressing and undressing isn’t something that comes easily to her just yet but once I showed her how to hook her thumbs inside the waistband, she was able to pull them on and off mostly by herself. I love how cute they are!  The pattern we have would be great for a boy or a girl!  They are so soft, I would even wear these underwear!   They are not waterproof, so if you want complete protection, you will need a cover over these.  Even when she had a stinky mess in these, the underwear contained the poo – very important, am I right?  They do need to be pulled down, so it can be a bit of a mess if they poop in these.  It isn’t too bad, unless your child does what Maggie did and wiggle and jump and protest until she steps in it – ugh!  If you are looking for some trainers for your little potty trainer, these are perfect!  Of the trainers we have tried so far, these are my favorites because they are so similar to regular underwear and helps them learn their skill of pulling their underwear up and down all by themselves. When toddlers meet technology {Tuesday’s Toddler Tales linkup}

[…] She doesn’t get to watch it all the time, but when she thinks about it, I usually let her.  The other thing we do a lot of together on the computer is read her BookLingual books.  They are written in Spanish and English and are fun for us to read together. We also YouTube books on CD sometimes.  Mostly we do that because one of my favorite children’s books is not available for purchase for less than somewhere around $50 and we are not paying that!   It’s Fire Truck and it’s very catchy and really super awesome!  I try really hard to not be playing around on my phone when the kids are awake, but I am guilty.  When Maggie pipes up and says, are you on Facebook mommy – I feel very guilty and know that I am not focusing on what I should be.  Thanks baby girl for making me remember. A statement I heard in our class that really puts things in perspective for me is – turning on the TV or computer, whatever it may be – is allowing the media into your house.  Whatever is on the TV is now invited into your home.  Does that show have the values you want to teach in your house?  Each week we are linking up for Tuesday’s Toddler Tales. This weeks topic is Toddlers and Technology. Next week is Favorite Sassy Moments. How is technology viewed in your house? […]

Stinking cute diapers from Rumpkinz *Sponsor Spotlight* #switchtocloth

[…]on the tooshy.  I love the “PU” and how the letters are in the same print as the front of the diaper.  Plus, the embroidery is sewn only into the minky, not the hidden PUL so there are no worries about it leaking through the embroidery.  The elastic at the back and on the leg openings is very stretchy and because of the softness of the fabric, won’t ever leave red marks on the Charlie man.  The wipeDid I mention I also received an organic cloth wipe? The wipe measures 8 inches x 8 inches.  The perfect size for pretty much everything and it fits perfectly when folded in half into a wipe container.  Each wipe is hand sewn using unbleached, dye free and certified organic fabric that is soft on one side and a natural hemp on the other side.  They are perfect for those little tooshies or for those little faces and hands that always need cleaning.  The wipe was awesome!  I wondered at first because it is very thin so I was figuring it wouldn’t be as absorbent as I would like.  I was wrong.  The large size and the different fabrics made this wipe perfect.  I would love to add some more of these to our stash.  The wipes I own that I use the most are thicker, and while they work great, it makes it hard to get more than a few into a wipe container to throw into the diaper bag.  With the wipes from Rumpkinz, I could definitely fit in as many as I need for the day.  These are a must have! If you are looking for a terrific custom pocket diaper, fitted diaper, or any of those fabulous accessories that you need..ahem…want, visit Rumpkinz on Facebook and snag yourself a Rumpkinz diaper.  You won’t be disappointed.  Want to win a Rumpkinz diaper of your own?  Enter now as part of the Switch to Cloth giveaway event with over $400+ in cloth diapers and accessories.  Good luck! *Disclosure:  I received the above mentioned product for the purpose of this review.  All opinions are 100% my own and only influenced by my experience with the product and company and may differ from […]

#FluffyXmas Sponsor spotlight *Diapers By Chris*

[…]so customers can choose their favorites and create the diaper they will enjoy for many years.Most of the diapers you will find at Diapers by Chris are AI2’s and fitteds, but she also makes pockets and AIO’s and hybrid fitteds once in awhile, or by request.  Now, many WAHM’s have another job as well, and so does Chris.  One that I think is pretty interesting.  She drives a log truck!  How cool is that!  She drove up until 3 weeks before she had her daughter, and now is driving again.  The part she hates is leaving her little girl. The diaper I received is a cheerful reindeer Christmas pattern featuring reindeer, Christmas trees and holly leaves.  It’s a one size, AI2 diaper.  AI2-All in two because there is a cover and the insert lays in for quick and easy diaper changes.  The diaper is a woven cotton outer print with a hidden inner layer of PUL.  The inside is made from a wicking jersey material.  There are a few things that make this diaper unlike any other I own.  The wicking jersey is the first.  I like how trim this diaper is – much more trim than some diapers with fleece inners.  The insert is actually 2 inserts, each with a double layer of Organic Bamboo Fleece (OBF) topped with luscious cotton velour sewn together.  These diapers dry really quickly because the diaper cover and inserts are separate and since the inserts are sewn together instead of one thicker insert, it dries quicker.The second thing that makes this diaper different than any other diapers I own, is the wing snaps.  Some diapers have 2, 3, or even 4 snaps on each wing.  Most of the diapers I own with 3 snaps on each wing have two on top and one on the bottom.  This diaper is opposite, with 2 snaps on the bottom and 1 on the top.  I was a little unsure of this when I saw it, but when we used it, we got such a great fit.  The double rows of snaps across the front of the diaper aren’t lined up directly on top of each other, the top row is shifted just a little, and not on accident.  It’s designed that way to be in line with the wing snaps.  Because of the placement of all of the snaps, getting a great fit is easy.  I have found this to be one of the best fitting diapers across Charlie’s waist.  That top snap being more towards the center of the diaper than the bottom pulls the waist more snugly around baby.  That’s where I tend to get leaks with some diapers on Charlie, but never on this one.The inserts look thin, and I wondered if they would be absorbent, but we didn’t have leaks with this on either Charlie or Maggie.  We didn’t use it overnight on Charlie though since I will only use a fitted on him.There is gentle elastic around the thighs and on the back of this diaper.  I loved that I never had to worry about whether or not he was going to leak up the back (especially when he’s in the jumperoo).  The elastic helped create a great fit. There are 3 rise settings on this diaper and it is designed to fit from 12-35 pounds, possibly larger.  I wish I had this diaper sooner, I am curious if it would have fit him even before 12 pounds.  The design of the elastic around the legs makes me think that it possibly would, especially on my chunkier little guy.  *I did ask Chris about the size range to be sure, and she also mentioned that a mom told her that her 11 pounder was able to wear the diaper with no problems.* I love this diaper, and yes, even after Christmas, I will still be using this diaper year round.   Are you ready to shop?  Chris has so many different choices to allow customers to be sure they get exactly what they are looking for.  You can get wicking jersey, crushed panne, or suedecloth inners.  The outer may be cotton with hidden PUL or with PUL outers and a choice of inner fabric.  Chris has since changed her insert design to a petal type soaker with 3 layers of OBF in the bottom petal and 2 layers of OBF topped with cotton velour on the top petal.  You will have the option of snap in or lay in soakers.  With all of these choices – you will have fun designing your own diaper!   Like Diapers by Chris on FacebookBuy one now or Enter to win one starting December 1st as part of Merry Fluffy Christmas. Be sure to check out Diapers By Chris.  Which diaper is your favorite? *Disclosure:  I received the above mentioned diaper for the purpose of this review.  All opinions are 100 % my own and only influenced by my experience with the product and […]

#Fluffy Xmas Sponsor Spotlight *Roxie Harlow*

[…]her stash with some cheap-o diapers, but soon began drooling over the cuteness factor of some of the WAHM’s she saw on Etsy and Hyena cart.  Since she is kind of a DIYer, she decided to hit the sewing machine and make her own.  After failing a few times, she finally got the fabric combination that she liked.  Soon after making her own kids’ diapers, friends and friends of friends began asking for some.  She decided to add them to her Etsy shop, and that’s how she got here today!   Plus, she is pregnant and due Christmas day!  How exciting!!!Baby is due on Christmas Day! Ahh! And yes, the embroidered diapers are all minky outer, hidden PUL and micro-chamois inner. I had so much fun looking through the diapers on Etsy to decide what to review.  I finally decided on an adorable “I smell trouble” skunk pocket diaper.  Guess what…it is adorable! The diaper This diaper is made from a white minky outer with “I SMELL TROUBLE” and a skunk embroidered on the butt.  The inside is made from micro-chamois with a hidden layer of PUL.  *Note:  the review is only on the diaper, not an insert*  There are 3 different rise settings to fit babies size 10-35 pounds Correction:  these fit rom 15-35 pounds.  There is a single row of snaps across the front of the diaper, and 2 snaps on one wing and 3 on the other.  There are also crossover snaps for those tiny waists. The pocket opening on this diaper is plenty large – even daddy could stuff it!  I love that thechamois inside isn’t the normal white color.  This diaper has a brown  inner.  I’m not sure why, but I love having the inside of the diaper colored.  I like how the snaps are color coordinating and match the skunk!  Because of the fleece and the minky outer, the elastic at the back and legs is really gentle on babies skin so you don’t have to worry about red marks. The lowdownJohn likes using this diaper because of the one simple row of snaps.  He loves how gentle and soft it is on both of the kids’ skin.  Both Maggie and Charlie are on the smallest setting on this diaper – Maggie is 22 pounds and 26 months, Charlie is 16 pounds and 5 months.  I have no doubts that this diaper will last through the high end of the weight range. I did find that this diaper is a bit wide in between the legs.  It still fits fine, but it is wider than many of our diapers.  We were able to get a good fit on both of the kids with this diaper.  I feel like Charlie just fits in this diaper at 16 pounds.  This diaper has worked well for us on both of our little stinkers. You can tell that a lot of care and time was put into making the diaper.  The design has a lot of stitching and it is done really well.  I am confident this will hold up over the years.   Roxie is on maternity leave right now, and the shop is closed until January, but you should definitely check out her facebook album and see her custom diapers, fabric albums and so much more!Visit her Etsy store.   If you are looking for some great new (boy) prints, be sure to check these out!  Which diaper is your favorite from the custom or fabrics album?   Enter to win this diaper as part of Merry Fluffy Christmas *Disclosure:  I received the above mentioned product for the purpose of this review.  All opinions are 100% my own and based solely on my experience with the company and […]
