If you have elementary age kids, you have probably heard of Reading Eggs from Blake eLearning Inc. We use to have it and I don’t really know why we stopped, but when I told my kids we would have Reading Eggs again – they were so excited! They love this for so many reasons and so do I!
Reading Eggs is an online program filled with games, songs, rewards and so much more! As your child plays, they are learning to read or gain math activities and having fun while they do it. Since the last time we used Reading Eggs, there have been a few changes – for the better!
Reading Eggs has three program options – Reading Eggs, Math Seeds and Fast Phonics. The Reading Eggs part has three different parts – Reading Eggs {3-7}, Reading Eggs Junior {ages 2-4} and Reading Eggspress {7-13}. A family account can include up to 4 children. To encourage kids more – there are monthly themes where they can purchase limited edition clothing, furniture and more. Plus, the apps make it so easy to use on your phone. This makes it a super awesome way to do school on the road in a way that the kids love! We have only been using it on my Android phone and the app works flawlessly. There are also tons of books for your children to read and answer questions about. When they are logged in, it will show the different apps they should use based on their learning levels. If you want them in a program that isn’t one of those – you can just click the arrow to find the rest of the apps.
My youngest – five-year-olds – has been having a blast with the new Fast Phonics {Ages 5-10}. As he plays, he repeats the letter sounds and tells me, “Now, he is going to squish it together.” Then he reads the word together with the program. Each of the 20 lessons has fun, exciting games covering a set of letters. The kids love that as they complete things, their mountain gets even cooler! They want to keep working for that super cool mountain. I love when he is just doing his work on my phone and I hear his cute little voice practicing his letter sounds or reading words.
This is a very kid-friendly program. My kids know their way around quite well and figured it out on their own. They can purchase things with their reward golden eggs and update their apartment, etc.. They can check out their trophy room, arcade, mall, stadium, library, targets, english skills, etc.. When they click on my lessons, it automatically takes them to the next lesson. They click on that number and off they go to their next lesson. For example – with my nine-year-old, she is on Reading Eggspress and learning about Main Ideas.
Clicking on the golden egg or on my progress takes you to their stats. Lessons completed, books read, spelling, stadium, exile current reading level and growth and so much more. You can find Mental Minute in Mathseeds where they have a minute to answer as many math questions as they can. The driving tests also allow them to practice their math skills while having fun.
Without question – my kids give Reading Eggs two thumbs up with a big grin. You don’t have to take our word for it though – see what others have to say about it!
