When baby Henry was born 9 months ago, I was feeling pretty good about myself. My belly grew and grew, but the scale barely budged. The day he was born I had only gained 4 pounds. You know what that means? It means that I was already back under my pre pregnancy weight – woohoo! Unfortunately, it stopped there. Like my body had after both of my other kiddos, I just stayed there. They say that breastfeeding helps you lose weight but that is not the case with my body. But, like I said, it has been 9 months. It is time for me to get my butt back in gear and put the fitness back in my life.
Did I mention I have 3 kids 4 and under? I’m a busy mom but this is important. I’m shaping young minds and those minds are starting to play with my jiggly belly. I have gotten rid of the, “I don’t have time” excuse. I have a family and we can be fit together. Not only is it somewhat easy but it is really fun. Here are a few ways that make being an active family fun.
Run. If you have kids, you know they love to run around. Run with them. Better yet, run after them. They are sure to erupt in giggles. My sisters kids are a little older and they do the Color Run together. If running is your thing {and even if it isn’t} there are a lot of fun runs that you can do alone or with your family.
Go for a family bike ride. Not going to lie – I haven’t ridden a bike in quite some time. I bought one last year and we got the pull behind bike trailer and a seat to buckle baby in on my bike. We haven’t actually used them yet, I am really nervous. I told John we should put the baby seat on his bike because I’m terrified I will fall. I’m pathetic really, that’s what it boils down to here folks. We are going to go later this week and I know the kids will be super excited. We live in an area where they will probably just ride their own bikes instead of sit in the pull behind, they will have more fun that way.
Yoga. The kids think it’s pretty fun that they have their own special yoga mat just for them and I have mine. While I think this is a great way to exercise as a family, Henry thinks it is a great reason to pull on me at all times, haha. For some reason the kids are full of giggles the entire time.
Play ball. Softball, basketball, soccer, you name it. Get out there and throw, bounce, kick or hit the ball. It’s a great way to teach your kids the love of the game and it can grow with them even once they are adults. My kids love going to softball with me each week and played t-ball for the first time this year.
Now that you have a few ideas on how to get out there and have some fitness fun with your family, the next step is eating right. We all know that we need enough fruits and vegetables in our diet, but what about protein? If you are like me, you hit that brick wall right around nap time. The problem is that you don’t get a nap every day {or at least I don’t}. It was leading to some horrible caffeine habits that I was struggling to break free from. I picked up some EAS Complete Protein Powder and some EAS Complete Protein Ready to Drink when we were at Walmart. Not only is this packed full of protein, but it is also supplemented with calcium, fiber, vitamins and minerals to help me be the best me I can be. I like that it’s a not only a big container, but it also holds the scoop in the lid so you don’t have to stick your entire hand in there every time. I’m counting on this to be the missing thing that will give me the energy I need to get through my day. Since I know I don’t get enough protein as it is, this is just what I need.
The EAS Complete Protein Ready to Drink cartons are perfect for when I’m on the go and want one for later. Plus, I can get both the powder and the shakes in delicious chocolate or vanilla flavors.
These are a few of the ways that families can stay active together. What are your favorite ways for your family to be fit together? Do you also incorporate EAS Complete Protein to fit in with your busy, active lifestyle?
We enjoy walking our dog together and going on bike rides. My daughter is in ballet and is also going to be in gymnastics this year, and my youngest son is going to do soccer for the first time. He’s my little athlete and I’m really excited to see him in action. These are some great tips! #client

We did a lot more walking the dog back when the dog actually listened to me! My daughter is in dance and is super excited for it to start back up soon. I can’t wait for Charlie to be able to play soccer – he wasn’t old enough yet this year.
Awesome! No words. You always go one step beyond.
