The things I do while breastfeeding…..

This post is part of the weekly breastfeeding blog hop, hosted by Sisters N’ Cloth, and co-hosted by Life as Wife, Mummy, and Nurse. This week’s topic is, “I breastfeed and…”

When you have a newborn, you breastfeed.  Alot.  Like, all day long.  And all night long.  If you want to do anything else, you learn to multitask.  This is my second time down the breastfeeding trail.  I can’t focus only on feeding my baby, many other things demand my attention.
A few of my favorite things to do while breastfeed are to play with Maggie, my 2 year old and to blog.  I have a super awesome nursing pillow, but do you think I ever remember to use it?  Nope.  That leads to this awful soreness in my shoulder and neck.  I had read many books with Maggie in my lap and Charlie’s legs on her lap and him nursing.  We also play a lot of blocks.  Charlie sleeps with me as well, and nurses while we sleep, so I guess that’s multi-tasking, I think of it as pure laziness on my end, but sure, let’s make it a good things, hehe. Oh, and let’s not forget eating.  After two kids, I can eat just about anything while breastfeeding.  I can even cook while breastfeeding.  Lets just face it, I’m awesome!  Haha.  Oh yeah, and I play cards with lots of people while breastfeeding (although I can’t play spoons while breastfeeding).
I never really thought of breastfeeding as being “green”.  When Maggie was born, it never crossed my mind until a few months later.  Then I started using cloth diapers and trying to do many other green living things.  Now, we are trying to get rid of many of the toxic things in our life as well.  It’s a slow change, but every little bit counts, right?  We use dryer balls because they are awesome!  After Charlie was born, I used cloth menstrual pads.  We try to use wash cloths to clean up more instead of using paper towels.  We use a water cooler instead of water bottles, that made such a big difference, although that was one change I made before having babies.
Do you multitask while breastfeeding?  Or do you do other “green” things besides breastfeeding?  I’d love to hear all about it!
